Title: cover pro
Post by: jk1066 on March 16, 2018, 11:27:49 AM
Just got an email from craftsy -  coverpro basics and beyond. I am self taught on my machine using google. Has anyone used crafty courses and will I learn more? Indeed are there some good tutorials out there?
Thanks

The feed back from one of the cover stitch classes wasn’t good... not much beyond how to set it up

I bought the coverstitch basics course and was not very impressed.

The content was ok but there was nothing that I hadn't found on YouTube or Google.

There is a good FB group for Janome/Elna coverstitch users that has lots of good info and links.

I've found the most important things to remember are to use good quality needles of the correct size and type and also to use stretch thread in the looper.

Thanks for info on stretch thread, I have just bought a coverstitch so will order some thread for the looper.

I've never used stretch thread, I seem to have got on ok with ordinary thread in the looper as well as needles.

I never use stretch thread in the looper either....I just use whatever is lying around in my Janome ...
I’ve just bought a Babylock so will see what the difference is from the Janome.

Never used stretch thread either.  I assume we're talking about woolly nylon?
I tend to use Gutermann sew all in matching colours for hemming.

My Elna 444 which is the same as a Janome CP1000 definitely doesn't like cheap overlocking thread.  It sews OK with it but then I can't pull the threads through to lock off.
