Title: McCalls 7745
Post by: charlotte on March 10, 2020, 12:52:16 PM
Making View C for my mum in a beautiful Liberty print Crepe de Chine (https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/clementina-crepe-de-chine-R194232006.html?dwvar_000578947_color=21-LT%20YELLOW&referrer=search#q=Crepe%20de%20Chine&start=121&sz=60&ph=R194232006).

I definitely want to underline it as the fabric is very fine and very slightly translucent - it needs to look neat on the high-low hem and have a little bit of body on the ruffle. I can't decide what best to use. An organza would definitely be too stiff. Currently thinking either a cotton lawn (added bonus is I already have some white, so just need to dylon it an appropriate shade) or a silk habotai. Any advice or other suggestions?(https://mccallpattern.mccall.com/sites/default/files/styles/p_xl/public/products/m7745/M7745_03.jpg?itok=fPVr0NFA)

Lucky mum. I'll get in the adoption queue. Either cotton lawn or silk would work, I'd go for habotai as it's a little crisper

Wow. This dress is going to be lovely. Your lucky mother. I agree that either lawn or habotai would be fine but the habotai might be better as then it's all silk.

Quietly shuffles into place in the adoption queue......  ;)

Ooh lucky mum.  It should look fab.  I love Liberty fabrics.  I’d also use silk habitai.
