Now I finally have some time off work I am starting my next bag project. Today I cut and fused everything and started making the front panel. I have wanted to use this fabric print for ages but hadn't quite found the right use until today. The purple is a thick, waterproof canvas type material. It is the first time I have sewn with it but I am pleased with it so far which is good as I also have it in pink and turquoise!

I like your colorful hardware and the floral fabric is gorgeous.
-
That will be a stand out bag. Also love the fabric and hardware.
-
That’s very pretty fabric and that hardware will look wonderful.
-
Another fan of the fabric and the hardware.
-
I kept reading about the hardware and thought, what hardware?' Hadn’t seen it all because it blends in so well with the fabric. It’s lovely. Where did you get them from?
-
@sewsimple I have a few Facebook groups I belong to who buy in bag hardware. I think this set came from bagmaking bling (she also has an etsy shop).
I love the range of hardware I can buy from these groups, the only disadvantage being you have to buy when you see them and they may not get the items back in.
This finish is called rainbow and it is becoming increasingly popular in bag making groups. I wasn't keen on it at first but it has grown on me in the past few months!

Oh yes, very pretty hardware - thanks for revealing your source @RJR_38. I might look for a similar group over here. There's nothing like a nice bag project, is there :).
-
OK, so I've mostly finished the outside. It is slightly louder than I imagined as I thought the purple would show more but the purple flap is under the other one. I still like it though haha.
Tomorrow the lining! [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

That is lovely.

That is lovely

The bag is looking good. I have no patience for doing that detail of work so I'm in awe of your skills.
-
Finished! Overall I love the way it looks. I would tweak a few minor things if I were to make it again but I think it will get plenty of use! [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Really nice @RJR_38
-
Thanks!
Now to decide what to make after Xmas hehe
-
I'm sure you'll think of something. A bag with red leather, perhaps? Your floral bag looks so professional. Well done!
-
The finished bag is fabulous!
-
Ooh, I do like that @RJR_38 Is the purple bit leather or similar?
-
@Ploshkin the purple fabric is a new waterproof nylon/canvas the lady who I buy my PU from has started selling. It is completely waterproof (I tried and the water just sits on top), is thick like a heavy canvas but cuts and sews beautifully. I have some in this purple, a fuchsia pink and a pale turquoise

What a fabulous bag and I love all aspects of it from the fabric to the hardware. Job well done and can't wait to see the next one you make.
-
Im in awe of anybody that can make 'useful' things and that bag is jusy glorious ... love the sempervivarium (?) fabric! and the contrast between the lime and purple is excellent!!!!
-
That is stunning and looks well-made & functional as well. I love the bits of solid purple you use as accents.
-
I love a coated patterned bag...The only ones I use are the old style Fossil keyper bags.
