Lowena what a very cute result  :). I've never tried needle felting but I like the idea of frustration busting with creative results.

Courses & Classes / Re: On line Fashion Design Course: reduced price
« on: December 28, 2017, 19:05:29 PM »
This course/establishment (or something very similar) pops up each year at about this time. Would be interesting to hear if anyone has done it. Small print says 1 year from registration so implies that all notes and info vanish after 12 months.

Win, win RD  :) Your brother's comments remind me so much of my OH - but if they are going to have children a sense of humour is essential!

Thank you for sharing, it’s fabulous and an interesting history.
You’ve probably just got time to do another one :)

Keeping No 1 son warm and wrapped up in the winter is a lovely idea and I'm sure he will love it and think of you every time he sees it. FOQ can wait?

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Lovely 201k2 in Bedford

I wish you wouldn't do this  ;). It's only about 20 miles away from me and I was blissfully unaware - now I keep looking. I really don't have room with a house refurb and decorating and chaos upstairs and down. Hope someone who appreciates these machines and the cabinet sees this and snaps it up

Technical Help / Re: How to make trousers that fit?
« on: December 02, 2017, 09:38:25 AM »
I don't envy you the task, especially if you are trying to fit yourself without help. Do you have a pair of RTW that could be used as a starter? It will be a gradual fitting process with each one an improvement on the previous.
I would avoid using unwashed calico as it is stiff and will not drape the same as standard material. I went on a 3 day course in trouser fit and the calico pair seemed fine but the wool mix material was much softer and the actual trousers were very baggy and quite a disappointment. I got a better result starting from old RTW and adding extra to the rise at the back and takng it in stages from there. Lots of machine tacking and undoing but doable in stages. I would suggest you have something else to sew in between bouts of trouser fit.

A qualification would not bother me as long as I could see garments made by the tutor and/or the students. The ability to teach and communicate and above all enthuse is so important, I want to learn to do it myself and sort out my problems - not sit and watch an expert do it for me because it will be quicker. I'm old school but I also don't want to be told it's good if it's awful - I'd rather discuss ways of making it better next time.

Thanks for the explanation about templates! I'll keep my £ for something else.
Love block 2 and interested to see the final assembly.

Hope you catch up and finish and this public declaration spurs you on :)
I'm interested in your comment about the templates (can you expand?) - I thought they were supposed to make it easier etc once you had swallowed or ignored the cost. I don't do enough P&Q to justify templates but equally I am put off by hours of fiddly cutting!
Can we see some more pics please?

Fun with Fabric / Re: Spring Green Polka dot
« on: November 25, 2017, 16:25:48 PM »
The Makower site lists the numbers for each range and also the number for each colour variant. No idea if the numbers are all printed on the selvedge. I only quoted them as every device shows colour differently so numbers would be the only way of checking a match.
Not so important if you are in a store but helpful if buying on line
