Title: My sewing room - almost sorted now
Post by: Bodgeitandscarper on May 15, 2018, 18:11:36 PM
Having moved my sewing worktop from under the window, I think it now works for having multiple machines out, although it does still involve a bit of sliding 'em backwards and forwards.
As you can see, I still don't seem to be able to put everything away  :S
Also, behind the door, is my knitting machine table, I still need to set the machine up.

That looks great bodge! Definitely more comfortable and better organised than my corner of IT and sewing in the lounge....

Thanks peeps, I do so wish I'd had it built a bit bigger though!  Mind you, that would have meant losing some off the lounge so maybe not...
I think I need to take my old toy sewing machines out of the tall cupboards and use those for fabric and other assorted stuff.

I see you have your pc and printer in there as well. Does it have to double as an office?

It's just that I don't have anywhere else for my pc and printer, t'other half has his own in his office.  I generally use my laptop in the lounge, but wanted the pc in there for sewing and knitting software.

It's tidier than my sewing room.

I think that the key to being able to put things away is to be able to do so easily.  If you have to move half a dozen other things in order to get to the darker recesses to replace something then it just doesn't get put away.  You are probably right about moving the toy sewing machines - they would make very nice ornaments elsewhere and leave you with more storage space.

No sewing today, it was a diy afternoon.  I made a shelf unit for my sewing desk.  I think it will be very useful, just need to decide what will go on it now.  That odd space at the left is for the leccy sockets.
