I'm so sorry this pattern didn't work for you.  I didn't remember having problems with it though it was a few years ago now.  I hope you didn't ruin any precious fabric.

There is a free Hot Patterns hat pattern on the Fabric.com HERE. (You may need to scroll down the page a bit to get to it.) I made one a few years ago for my mother and it was reasonably easy to construct.

I read this as overs = tops and unders = bottoms which would leave a good ratio of tops, bottoms and over layers across 10 garments.  This is very similar to the 2016 SWAP on artisan square.  The category dresses fell into was a bit confusing then as well.

I haven't see Yorkshire buttons before.  They look a little like Dorset buttons which I have made in the past but those are wrapped around a metal ring so the size is limited to the ring size you can find.  Thanks for the link to the tutorial.
