OH has painted our front door. Dulux says do not close newly painted doors until dry - 16 hours!  One of us will be sitting in the hallway until 2am.  Definitely not Doing This Again.

@Sewingsue  Yes, you spent good money on it. Put it on ebay.

If it was crumbling, it would still do it after it was recovered.  you might as well know now, and get the foam replaced before you do it.

@Sandra Make sure your solicitor knows it was his idea.  His idea, he pays.  Don't let the flat come out of the house sale.

@Ellabella  My husband has been wearing a pair with silk in the mix.  They have pilled slightly after quite a few washes, but still beautifully comfortable.  ( I really ought to have hand washed them  :|).

Thanks @Ann, it was fun - sort of.   I can do small, I can do fraying fabric but the two together? Not good. Might try again with better fabric but that was all I had at the time.

[ You are not allowed to view attachments ]    I made these jeans for my doll. No idea what the fabric is, it is too thin to be useful for real clothing but scales up nicely for the doll. It is really fiddly, changing from sewing to top stitching every 5 minutes and I'm afraid not as neat as it ought to be. I could probably have made some for myself in the time.
I did two pairs at once -  helped consolidate what I learnt about working small and not much longer than making one pair.  A neighbour's daughter has a similar doll, I gave her the second pair. Got a great smile!

Best wishes to @justpottering  @Catllar @Sandra @realale . You all deserve something good for all the support you are giving others.
Sorry so many  are having problems now.  I hope coming here gives you a much needed break.  I know it calms my head when I'm frazzled, and my problems are minor compared to yours. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the friendly atmosphere.

@classical retro  do as Flobear says and wind off half the wool.
If you have the self patterning sort of yarn, then you must rewind the second   ball so that the pattern is turned back the right way and will match. Start the second sock at the same colour as the first.
You can calculate from the number of rows in the decrease, how long the toe part is. (2" on my pattern)
Then you can stop knitting the straight bit of the foot and start the toe at the right place to make the sock fit you. You will find them really comfortable.

@Flobear  if you want to make slipper socks, what you need is this:
Rico Sock Stop - Non-Slip Latex Based Paint  - available from Woolwarehouse but probably lots of places.
You paint  a pattern on the sole of the sock and there you go.

@annieeg  Rethread so all are different colours.  You will soon see which one is at fault.

Are you allowed to tell us the designer for the green/grey set in expensive wool?   I think I could spend all day playing with the dolls clothing.

The Regia wools are brilliant.  I made GS a pair of toddler socks from the leftovers after a grown up pair.  He loved them. They were handed down to another set of GS's and they were as good as new.
