Title: Brushed jersey?
Post by: Surest1tch on April 06, 2020, 21:11:28 PM
Has anyone used brushed jersey please, I've never seen it in the flesh and am wondering if say a medium weight would be any good for something like a lightweight cardigan or is it as stretchy as normal jersey.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Depends. There are different types of fabric that are referred to as brushed jersey. I've used brushed cotton sweatshirt fabric for several tops - it's really cosy and comfy and one of my winter favourites. The stretchiness can vary depending on the amount of lycra it has (if any). You could certainly use it for a cardi but it would be medium rather than 'lightweight'.

There's also a double brushed poly fabric which has 4-way stretch. I've not seen this myself but doubtless someone else here will have.

Yes, as Vezeley said, it depends!

Does it have a bit of lycra in it? that makes it more stretchy than it would be otherwise.
