Wow!  :loveit:

My sleeves don't fit on the free arm on any of my machines (even Becky). When things do fit round it, they inevitably emerge wonky with pins missing. I've given up using them.

@Elnnina I wonder if a water erasable marker would help you keep your hem stitches where you want them, regardless of how distorted they are by stretching. The blue ones that you can get usually wash away completely, so long as you don't iron them.

Not having a coverstitch I would use a triple zigzag stitch for long sleeved vests. Possibly something to consider then try an easier stretch fabric for getting the hang of your coverstitch. Cotton jersey and interlock tend to be much better behaved.

Been busy, today, but did fit in 15 minutes hand sewing on my blouse, this morning.

Are they fox eating dinosaurs, @fajita or are they herbivores?

I have chopped out 98 pieces from some perfectly lovely larger pieces of fabric with the intention of sticking them back together in a different order to represent 7 foxes.

That John Wayne paper used to be standard issue in schools here, @Kwaaked - everything smarts, just thinking about it. It would probably make great paper paper for small pieces, mind!

In the wardrobe / Re: Making a full length flared pencil skirt

If your fabric has some body to it (ie if you drop it on the floor it stands up a bit rather than going splat) then you would get away with changing nothing to get it to spread rather than drape. The fishing line idea is a good one or for a quick and dirty method of stiffening the hem, try some interfacing, possibly multiple layers.

If it behaves as you want all by itself then you could experiment with a lettuce hem for a bit of waviness at the bottom. Using a net or stiffer fabric underskirt would allow you the opportunity to do this, anyhow.

I used to have a fishtail skirt in my yoof! Of course I got googled that and got directed to lots of mermaid dresses where the flare is achieved with gores.

You will get the flare you want by drafting a circle, though you will not get the concentric rings in the dress that @SewRuthieSews posted. I noticed that some of the artwork just has the stripe round the bottom which is more easily achieved by drafting a separate piece in the contrast colour. Just don't forget seam allowances! Googling for peplum skirt tutorials will set you on the right track for this.

Your best bet is to experiment with an old sheet (just tack the extension into place until you get the effect you want.

Re: the fusible web suggestion, I think you would want somethjng that would wash away, @Elnnina or else you would end up with a rather too stiff hem with no stretch.

I'm back to work on my blouse after almost a week of not touching it. Found some nice enough buttons in the local indoor market, this morning, and it now has 5 reasonably attractive and uniform buttonholes - which will be hidden in a covered button band  .  There will be another button on the collar band so that will be Pfanny's chance to shine. Or not.

Is the side seam still where it needs to be or has your fix pulled it towards the front?

You're not having a good time of things, @Bjay

Is the burn mark in a place where a rug would work?

They're cutting in a ridiculous hurry on GBSB, though. I happily cut curves with mine and they're much smoother than with my scissors.

Unfortunately, @Elnnina it looks like you have yourself a rather stubborn machine. This is one of the discussions I found. https://sewing.patternreview.com/review/machine/2513

It looks likely to be nothing you're doing wrong.
