Sorry for the late post, I was traveling and at a conference for work.

Burdastyle 5/2018 on the RU site (the best one, IMO!)

The issue came out on the 11th. The new website allows you to see either the photos or the line drawings.

At-a-glance page is here. I print them out and keep in a 3-ring binder so I can look up patterns without manipulating the magazines.

Composite photo preview with line drawings on the Ukraine site:

Burdastyle 04/2018 preview

I like, for myself:
- the shirtdress, seems like a better version of the Colette pattern with that same weird partial collar;
- the raglan shirt minus the double ruffle tie-neck #overkill;
- the overwrought peplum off-shoulder statement-sleeve top, inexplicably in a lemon print;
- the flounced wrap-skirt;
- the sleeveless trench dress;

For my mother:
- the angle-pleat shirt ;
- the draped-sleeve top;
- the Audrey Hepburn kimono-sleeve blouse;
- the ruffle-sleeved top;

The kids pyjama patterns are cute and sure to be useful to parents. And I needed those leaves for some cushions in my living room!!!

The Plus seems dissapointing, though that hankerchief-blouse dress is nice in theory, a bit WTF in practice as is the wrap top.

Have you all noticed how Burda gives versions of the same garments in both size ranges. That Plus skirt with the asymetrical slit echoes the one from last Spring that was a stripe, IIRC.

Tl;dr: I like this issue so far!

Early preview from the UA site:

UA preview of Burdastyle 03-2018

I like several things, based on the line drawings:
- the raglan zippered dress in black in white print;
- The wedding dresses (to be made as day/cocktail dresses! #subversion): I need a better look at the ruffled one's bodice, love the pleated one, and am obsessed with corset/bustier dresses since I didn't get to make one last year;
-The pleated waist-detail knit(?) top for my mother. She wears mostly tops and trousers and we're looking to interesting details.

I am a bit worried about which one is the Petite. Aunt Anna (my nickname for Burda, esp. if I am not happy!) has a bad habit of throwing in a random Petite pattern like a jacket OR trousers instead of a full suit, for example.

Any takers?

Here they are on the DE site:

https://beta.burdastyle.de/shop/schnittmuster?listImage=technical&edition=381&issue=350&year=2018

One dress was a Plus pattern previously and the side-pleated high-waist skirt was in May 2012.

I love a lot of the releases but that's no surprise #burdafangirl

What do you think?

Ok, any Burda fans here? I know there is one of you at least but the name escapes me right now.

I'm a huge Burda fan, just so you all know  :angel:

Ok, 2018 is starting off well, IMO because I love several dresses (what a surprise!) in the upcoming January issue. Here are the technical drawings and garment photos on the RU site:

https://burdastyle.ru/tehnicheskie-risunki/tekhnicheskie-risunki-burda-1-2018_13060

And model photos on the RU and UA sites:

I think the Plus section looks really good but I am not in that size range. I do think the navy dress with gold piping is similar to a Big4 release, maybe Vogue? and on Lekala/Bootstrap! That double button pleated skirt is also a reissue in a different size range.

Ok, my favorites.WARNING HUGE PHOTOS AHEAD. SORRY!! :| :

Or Burda teaching you how to do a proper cut-on sleeve that fits! I love this soo much, it's already on the MUST SEW LIST of 2018!

I have a similar dress from an Indie brand, with the neckline gymnastics but the designer pissed me off by changing the bodice to a sleeved dress and wanting me to buy  the pattern all over again just for that new feature, no discount no nothing! Apparently, the one I have has been retired so I now own a fossil pattern. Really? Pass! Now, I can make another similar dress with my trusty and reliable Aunt Anna (my nickname for Burda, esp. in times of anger, LOL)

This one I am waiting for the magazine to see if the waist detail is added on or integral to the bodice pieces, I can't tell! But I like both the top and dress versions a lot.

I like the general design of this, though I don't typically tuck in my tops. But this is so beautiful! On the Maybe List!

What do you think of this issue?

So, are there any Petites on this board? I'm looking for my people  :D

I'll go first. I am 1,53 m or approx 5ft "Tall". An hourglass figure, proportional as far as I can tell, with the typical Petite scaled down figure:

- Narrow shoulders, though slightly forward;
- Shorter everywhere : torso, arms, legs.

I wear a 32C/D (depending on brand) bra and I have a low, wide, curvy butt. I wear a Burda 38Regular/19Petite, with alterations and a McVoguerickKS 10 or 12.

My main alterations are:
- Shorten bodices, bottoms, sleeves;
- Narrow shoulders;
- Narrow or raise necklines;
- Scale down details such as collars, pockets, ruffles etc.

My favorite decade for retro looks is the 50s with it's emphasis on the waist (my best asset) but I am growing more and more obsessed with the 40s.

My favorite brand is Burdastyle but, if I can get the right info, I alter most brands EXCEPT the Popular Hoaxes that are Colette, BHL and TATB. Those, I stay away from. And throw salt.

Bootstrap Fashion (Lekala), while not perfect, is a game changer.

So, If you are Petite, raise your hand and share with the class, please!  ;)

Hi, I'm new... / Allô from Haïti (Caribbean)
« on: May 24, 2017, 12:45:18 PM »
I saw the thread on PR but didn't pay much attention, I admit. Then an efriend told me about being a member here. So I came over, looked around, liked what I read and here I am now!

I live in Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haïti, in the Caribbean. Avid seamstress from a family of seamstresses, artists, teachers and lawyers. What this means is that I am creative, talkative and opinionated  :P

 I sew only garments, in part because, being only 1,53m (5ft), buying RTW is never simple. But I really enjoy it and, now that I am mastering my basic alterations more and more, I can make things that fit exactly as I want them to!

Burda fangurl with a growing interest for KnipMode but also a Big4 pattern stash thanks to some key enablers in the US. I love natural fibers (despite current, questionable obsession with viscose/rayon/tencel/cupro etc.) but knits don't require ironing and my country is plagued with energy problems.

(Well, now that the dry season has started, I am sewing and wearing only breathable fabrics...)

I hope to have a lot of fun with you guys. One of my specialties over at PR was finding patterns for people. I choose my projects based on the line drawings and I guess I memorized a lot of them  0_0 And since I work in Education (two jobs!), I can research the shit out of anything. #overthinker. Let the good times roll!
