It won't be a Singer either - just an anonymous machine bearing the Singer name. To get a genuine Singer machine it needs to have been made pre 1980 when they went out of business.

Happy Birthday!! Have a lovely day.

@Sandra it's probably the seed heads from a Clematis Montana. My front garden is full of them.

I have been trying to solve this for years - without success. There used to be a proprietary item which is no longer made. I had partial success stitching narrow petersham ribbon over the top and down each side with a piping foot but it looks a mess and only lasted a short time.

This company is in India. My daughter has just ordered 11 metres of fabric and a couple of pieces of (cheap) jewellery from them and, with the postage, it came to just over £49. It all looks rather lovely - I'll let you know what it's like when it arrives.

Quite surprised - a more grown-up selection than McCalls have been of late. Much more wearable clothes. Nothing that is grabbing me though. I am resigned, I think, to re-hashing the patterns I already have.

I bought this one last year:

but haven't had the right fabric for them yet. It struck me as a very civilised sort of waist "band". I like the one you picked too.

No, you're right @BrendaP - it also has the electronic foot control. By "not computerised" I really meant that the stitch selection/length etc are all manual controls which I am very comfortable with.

Mine is a Husqvarna Emerald 118 which Sewing Machines Direct have for £319. I have had mine about 13 years and, although it needs a service now, has been excellent. It isn't computerised and is very easy to use. An essential for me is the needle up/down facility which it has.
