A bit of a 'do' / Re: Last ever wedding dress

That’s beautiful and very classy.

@Sewingsue I used UPS when I bought my Babylock Evolve from Mamashep.

It wasn’t the cheapest option but they didn’t have sewing machines listed in the goods they wouldn’t insure.

Their service was excellent and I would use them again.

Less than £50 from Scotland to N Yorks.

What lovely fabric @snoozi soozi

You can’t beat a new cushion cover for a quick update.

Imi how many places have you advertised Elvis? TSP is a fairly small pool. Just because no one on here is in a position to buy it doesn’t mean it won’t sell.

Are you on any FB groups for machine embroidery, that might give you a wider range.

@Goth Gardiner do you have much luck with sweet potatoes?  We are contemplating trying them next year but fear North Yorkshire might be too cold.

Lazy day here as I am full of cold, so final MotoGP of the year it is.

Will even have to miss quiz night at our local pub.

@wrenkins handsome half nekid cowboys sound interesting .

Can we have a photo before you gift them.  :D

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: Antique quilts
« on: November 16, 2019, 15:23:40 PM »
@Lisalou1965 those are really beautiful.  You are so lucky.

To me this is patchwork at its purest . It’s original function was to make use of the smallest of scraps. When I make a quilt I always try to incorporate a small piece of fabric that was bought before I planned the quilt. A token gesture I know but it makes me smile if I can manage it.

Ooh @Iminei thats exciting ( no I don’t want to start embroidery thank you). But what on earth are you going to call the upgrade?

How can you have anything more exciting than an Elvis?

@Lowena just to add to the confusion we have a wool filled duvet and are very pleased with it. It seems to regulate the heat well, cool in summer and so far we have not had to add to it in winter.

If your duvets are polyester and flat they will have lost their insulating properties.

Another solution would be to share a bed with Mr L again, nothing like a warm body to keep out the chills on a winters night.  :D

OMG @Lachica thats a tough call. Sounds like you can’t do right for doing wrong. I do think people who always stay with their children till they go to sleep are making a rod for their own backs.

I’ve got GD for a second day as she has a bad cold and can’t go to nursery. She is one of those babies who sleeps herself better. She had a three hour nap yesterday.

@Catllar my sympathies, hope things settle down soon for you both.

@Manuela I hope Plan B works out for you as soon as possible

Wow @Puzzler that looks amazing. Having a dedicated sewing space is wonderful and one with its own loo!!!

Patterns Discussion / Re: La Maison Victor

I’ve only made a child’s pattern, so can’t comment on sizing.

The trousers I made for my DGS looked lovely. The instructions were comprehensive and the trousers had lots of nice details. The only downside was that one pattern piece was incorrect and I had done most of the construction before it became apparent. So he got a pair of shorts and I’ve never tried MV since.

Congratulations @BrendaP what wonderful news.

I made the tee shirt that went with that skirt.

Didn’t think I ought to do the skirt as well or I would have looked a bit like a humbug.
