How very odd???? Arent you in lockdown over there HN? Or is it just here in Blighty??  Where did he imbibe the booze ???

@Iminei - yes, we are in total lockdown for another 2 weeks at least - supermarkets doing a fine trade in, so odd to see a drunk.  Our home when we were children was across the street from a pub and it was our delight (dear forgive us) at 10 00 especially on a Saturday night to see the drunks leaving the pub.  We had a family of brothers in town and they were notorious for fighting among themselves when they'd had a drop too much.  They used to beat the daylights out of each other!

Meant also to say that there were those who were very kind and helpful to the unfortunates who got drunk on a Saturday night.  The former owner of our best home bakery used to package up his unsold bread and cakes and give it to those leaving the pub opposite him.  If things were so bad they couldn't even walk he'd put them in his car and leave them home.  He knew them all of course and where they lived.  He was a good, caring man, long gone now and his grandsons are running the business.

Afternoon everyone - sunny - milder - breezy - some showers - I read on google that there is another icy blast coming from the Nordic countries at the end of the snow may not be quite over.
Sinus infection today and have inhaled and then washed my hair and just had the drier going 2 mins when we had a short power cut...see the Engineers working nearby.
Strange sight this morning - some guy walked past our house....'what's he looking for' - we didn't recognise him - came back down again and walked into the bushes at the kerb - short time later back he comes....fell on his face at our driveway....I got up to see more (as you do!) he had got up and was drunkenly walking up the hill again....watched and he was not in it at all - came down again and all over the place.  Then is many years since I saw a drunk (or a druggie maybe).  Thing is you couldn't even go near him if he hadn't got up again - I'd just have rung the Police and let them deal with him.  Excitement over for today.
Off to feed the birdies and then make a cup of tea and then back to knitting again...unlike Lowena I cannot be bothered today with can wait.

Afternoon all.  Miserable and damp here.

We don’t do Valentines Day, never have.  But I am doing one of DH's fave puds, rice pudding, for tonight as he asked.

Started on a crocheted hat yesterday.  But the pattern is one with a diagram so it’s taxed my brain a bit.  Also couldn’t completely understand one of the instructions so ended up doing my own thing.
It’s a hat!   If it was a cardigan I might be in trouble.

Not a lot else going on here.  No walking at the weekend, too many folks around for my liking.

Rice pudding with raisins...mmmmmm...bought a pint of whole milk precisely for this pudding and will be having it simmering aim the oven when chicken is cooking.
As for winging knitting or crocheting.... I do this a lot...of course, like you say, if it were a proper garment then I would be more careful.
I am crocheting a cowl completely 'out of my head' just now!!

Late today..... horrible hooley going on outside....rain is horizontal but it's a lot milder....very windy indeed.
Not a lot going on today.... we'll have roast chicken around 5.....quiet relaxing day.
Watching on line church ATM.....on YouTube......can anyone tell me why I can't get subtitles on the TV for YouTube but can on the pc......I still cannot hear and no idea if it will return.

Cold, grey and windy but the barometer has started moving its backside so onwards and upwards.

A day of rest, no sewing, means disappearing out of sight. When I arrived at my play perch there was a nice box of Ferrero Roche sat waiting for me.

Next job the  treadmill with young kitty, beats getting his feed wet outside.

ACH..... he's not so bad after all @Gernella .... there's a wee flame still there.

Evening all - a Dixon of Dock Green used to say.  We had snow from 8.30 this morning for a few hours, it dumped 4" on us....birdies would eat the hand off you....
However the snow stopped and we had a very grey 'about to snow' type of afternoon and then the rain came and the snow is almost away.
Watched two rugby matches so that doesn't leave much time for anything else - did some crocheting for a cowl for chairty stuff....not a lot as my hands need a wee bit of a rest....for a few mornings I had very sore hands and arms so I gotta do less.
Ironed just now and changed our bed - love getting into a freshly made bed, hard to beat.
I hope you have all had a good day.  Thinking of those that hadn't.
Take care all.

Afternoon all, weather is bitter and the skies are looking like it is going to snow..... that's the reason I got up and out and shopped this morning.
Now watching tennis highlights and knitting for charity this time.
@Lowena confused me thisornimg giving your weight loss.... I then thought it was Friday....however your fasting is working.....
Take care all.

Morning all - it's very very bright and sunny this morning but bitterly cold.
@Iminei - would you not go out and defrost the birdie's water container?  Water is more necessary than food sometimes.
As for Oxford jab -  I got very sleepy about 7 and had a mildly sore arm and a mildly painful left side of face and neck.  This persisted during the night and I got up at 9 and had breakfast and painkiller - went back to bed and feeling better now but yesterday was my worst hearing day for a very long time (nothing to do with jab) - No 1 son came to sort out our tv...channels were missing and while here we re-hashed our complete package.  We rarely watched BT Sport as it was mostly football and boxing.  Thankfully this is now sorted and I hope to watch some tennis later as we have subscribed to Eurosport (BT don't offer it anymore).  I can no longer seem to cope with all the re-arrangements - if something goes wrong I am lost!!
So still have to make a card as yesterday was lost sorting out the tv.  Hope nothing else rears it's ugly head today.  There will be enough hassle teaching DH how to use his phone to find stuff on tv....if ever....he'll likely hand it to me to do.
Hope you all have as good a day as possible.

@Lowena - 30 minutes in the cold and snow....that was awful.....I can't do fasting at all I'm afraid - I just get the shivers and am useless....for me it's a boiled egg and ryvita for lunch....DH has a plated dinner left from yesterday.

Morning all - bright and sunny but BITTERLY COLD here.
Been for my jab - in and out in less than 5 mins.
Now need to make a card for a birthday for Friday so get my skates on.  Other than that the day is my own.Hope you all have a good day and @Lowena - as others say if you need the heat get it on...and wrap yourself in a quilt......take care and hope neither one of us has any reaction.

I am very late today - didn't get up in time either.....grey and miserable but it was DRY!!
Watched rugby and so glad (sorry English folk) Scotland picked up the Calcutta Cup.
Had nothing on the needles so dug out some yarn to knit a hat for charity.....rib well on but I'm not in a hurry.  Then watched Dan Evans win his semi final of a match somewhere in Australia pre Australian Open, he played really well but Chardy from France disgraced himself.  Felt sorry for him.

@justpottering - condolences on the passing of your Uncle - no doubt it brings your Father's passing back to the forefront again....but as others say he is now out of pain.
Take care all and have a good Sunday and those of you in the South East and North East take greater are in for a lot of white stuff....we will miss it all this time.

Only now @Iminei ?   I've had mine for years..... It made me stop making so many bulky cards to send.....great item to have...saves the guesswork.  Along with a set of 'gram' scales and printing out your postage labels you are all set for staying out of the post office except for big boxes.

Morning all - grey and miserable but not raining here, yet.  More forecast.
Today I am doing a little alteration for my housebound friend.  The vests she buys are too long so I have one home with me yesterday to shorten and see if it is ok for her before I do the rest. I will retain the proper hem so it still looks good.
Other than that I am free as the calligraphy job which I should be working on has been thought twice about given my approximation of the price.  Some people think I will work for nothing....they tell me 12 lines.....there are 20 and each line will actually be 2 lines each on the paper....then space to make it look I can live without jobs like that....and it was for Valentine's Day gift if you please.....I am not a computer.
Have a good day everyone.
