Oh I love your quilt Im and I don't think it is too crowded at all and the backing Brenda linked to is just perfect.....wandering off now to make tea whilst humming "Starry Starry Night" by Don McLean.

 0_0 0_0 0_0 That's exactly what I did!

I had in fact posted (or thought I had) a reply yesterday saying that I too thought the arrangement just perfect.  :)

WOW Brenda !!!!That might very well be it,
What do you girls think ??? Or is it too in your face, Do they do that in a blue ???

Don't introduce another colour, keep it to yellow with black and red.  Even so, I think there's a bit of navy in there too.

I agree with Brenda, the yellow and blue offers an interesting contrast (and you know, I love blue). But for this wonderful, warm quilt I also would stay at the cosy colours of black-red-yellow. This fabric will be great as backing!!!!  0_0

You won't need that much.

Being generous and allowing the full 4" all round extra you will need 45+8 = 53" for the length and then two strips of 8 wide to join onto the side (it would mean rotating the strips).  53+16 =67" = 1.7 metres.

A much more ecconomic way would be to buy 45" (1.2m) of the 45" fabric and add a plain(ish) border all around.
