Today's disappointing sewing

I've had this black nylony/outdoorsy/slightly stretchy fabric for ages, and thought I'd try it for a pair of shorts, using my much altered trouser pattern.  I even made the pattern a bit bigger as the last pair of trousers seemed a bit tight.
I obviously didn't make it bigger enough. and it only has a very very slight stretch, mor e abit of "give" even, so it takes much breathing in and pushing the fat out of the way to zip them up.  Sitting down may not be an option.

So, the question is, what's the best way to gain a bit more space in the tummy department for the next pair I make?

As well as this adjustment, I also need one for a 'bubble butt'.    There isn't a trouser pattern in the world that is going to work for me.

I'd need a FUBA.! Full upper body adjustment.
I am a 32HH with narrow shoulders and a 28 inch waist! Cope with that you measly little darts!!!! One day I'll make a top that fits instead of stretchy or batwing/Dolman. If anyone can help I'm all ears....and boobs!

Thanks peeps, they look interesting.  I really need the extra widthways, as I already have the waist at the right height, so don't really want to change that.  I may try just making the front pieces a bit wider at the side seams.  Simple solution for a simple soul...
