Well what a morning, coffee over ironing beckoning, when I gets this shout, "are you ready",  what the heck I thought.
His phone, a PAYG was not accepting credit, said it was 25p left and he says he's never used it, I think probably one long call to his oldest sister which I think had eaten it all up.  Anyway couldn't get it to accept the credit so wanted to take it in to the local EE shop and needed me because he doesn't hear well (when it suits).

First thing this morning I'd been dithering about clothes, getting a bit cool needed to go to winter, put some tights on that looked like they'd been washed 65 times (extremely pale now).  So stood outside the bank (after EE) I looked at myself in a reflection and shuddered, pale beige shoes, pale tights, pale cream skirt, 3/4 jacket, which was the only one I could lay my hands on quick, but with a light lining and no gloves, couldn't remember  where they were, and a nice cream leather bag.  Everywhere else I looked they were huddled in winter.  I was standing out for the wrong reasons.

So since ironing is going to be late I'd better have a switch over after that.  Trouble is when you stay in most  of the time you  don't realise how  cold it actually is outside.

Worst part about it, I had a gippy stomach before I went, the kind where you don't want to go far  :S  Fortunately driving was a bit of a distraction it has passed.

One good thing, when it's cold the mask is much better to wear and it keeps the cold off most of your face.

Might do a review.

Grey, miserable and chilly here.
Had to get up at 7 as we had man coming to service the boiler and fire.  He’s been coming for years and gets here before 8.30!   Didn’t really fancy anyone in our house but needs must.  Went round with the disinfectant after and had doors open for a while.  Brrrrrr.

Veggie sausage and mash tonight.  It’s that sort of day.

Have started on grandson's steam engine embroidery for his new tee shirt.   So that’s my job this afternoon.

I thought it had stopped raining and the bin men had been
Wrong on both counts

However I have just had a lovely long chat with a friend and caught up on all her family news

Has anyone spotted the light at the end of the tunnel? I'm blowed if I can see it

We'll wake up one morning and it will all have been a bad dream @sewingj .  As I see it you have to be sensible and if you are  sensible you keep safe.  I can just imagine in another life my dad sitting me down and explaining the danger if I wasn't sensible.  I wonder if I'd have  taken any notice?

Incidentally I've not seen @Manuela for a bit, I hope she's okay.

@Gernella to be honest I`m less concerned about our safety than the economic implications.  Son-in-law has got a very good job that he has worked blooming hard for - but it`s in the aviation industry and things are looking very dodgy

@b15erk  it`s good to see you lurking Jessie - would be lovely to hear from you

@Sewingsue
I try to take the view that staying in touch with friends by telephone (and e-mail) is better than no contact, and it may be the only way to keep in touch until this flipping Covid thing is over .... ><
@b15erk Hello Jessie, hope you are well. :D

Hi @b15erk  and @Helen M, are you joining me for the next exciting phase of our lives - not? Are you classed as Mersey region?
I've decided that I'm just going to carry on as before, we've only been seeing family when they've dropped stuff off so not socialising and meeting with friends has been minimal. It's just the fact that we can't do what we want if we wanted to. It's the grandchildren who just don't understand and think that they've done something wrong because they're told that they can't see us.

@maliw we are in Cheshire East so I'm hoping we are in the middle one. It's not being able to go where you want, when you want the makes you fed up. I don't wear a mask so I feel as if I'm in jail! I've a card but don't like use it unless absolutely necessary. I'm not afraid of going without one as I keep my distance and go to a shop (4 times since July) only in the early evening when I could count on one hand the number of people in a very large store. When you see all the pictures of the nightclubbing crowds it makes you think 'why am I worrying about it'........

I was wondering about @Manuela too?

She last posted on Sept 30th.

"Today is Mr Manuela’s birthday. We went to his favourite restaurent and got stranded by a black rainstorm - meaning no transport back. I dashed to the neighbouring hotel (the Sheraton in Tsim Sha Tsui) and they had a room for a very good rate. So we are now stranded in a 5 star hotel - not bad at all...
Need to rush back home tomorrow morning before all hell breaks loose though."

If it was anyone else living anywhere else one would just assume life had got a bit busy, but...

Have just got back from our lovely pub lunch. I had a warm salad with smoked chicken, bacon and avocado and a side order of home made chips followed by salted caramel ice-cream - delicious! It was topped off when the land lady complimented me on my top and asked if it was from Phase Eight perhaps? No, it was the one I won the florals competition with earlier this year!

Yes, @b15erk , no good just lurking and liking - time you were back! We have missed you!

Manuela did log in early yesterday morning, so she is around.
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!  I'm just baking the crust for the peanut butter pie.  I'll whip up the filling and then it's into the fridge.  Later, it's on to the sausage stuffing, turkey, yams, fried corn and a sea of gravy.

I will admit that I'm feeling less than thankful this year as my Dad passed away unexpectedly 3 weeks ago.
