It's brilliant, @realale !  Can't wait to get started o my bookcase quilt. Which is a job for Elvistoo when it comes to titles  :D

I personally would have the extra row but mine's going to be a room divider; if it's for cuddling under, as previously mentioned, then a squarer looking shape is good.

Does your grandaughter like animals - if so what about the James Herriot books, i.e. 'It shouldn't happen to a Vet' etc.  My daughter found these around the same age, and just loved them - she couldn't get enough of them.

I've only just seen this - it's fantastic, and yes, I think you are right to add the extra row.

I do love the colours of that - so much easier on the eye than lots of different colours.

I was literally (see what I did there) thinking about that book the other day and deciding to try and get hold of a copy for the grandkids.  I loved it as a young girl, my favourite barring Narnia!
As it neared the top of the grade, it went more slowly. However, it still kept saying, "I—think—I—can, I—think—I—can." It reached the top by drawing on bravery and then went on down the grade, congratulating itself by saying, "I thought I could,  I thought I could."

I would go with any of the Narnia Books, but in particular the lion the witch and the wardrobe.  Or how about Michael Morpurgo books: War Horse, The Wreck of the Zanzibar and the The Ghost of Grainne O'Malley were particular favourites of DD at that age.

PS the Quilt is great.

(I wouldn't add anything by DW, in case it doesn't [ahem] age well.)
Janome M50QDC - "Jane" - Small, cute and hard working. Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 - "Pfanny" - Pfickle. Bernina L450 - "Bernie" - Very hungry. Bernina 830 Record - "Becky"

Thank you for all your suggestions.  :thumb: I've used some and have now designed the final 5 blocks. I've stitched one out but need to cut more fabric before I can do the other blocks.

I'm beginning to realise that's how I feel about quilts, @realale !

I really like designing/planning and piecing, I can put up with layering, I'm not at all keen on quilting but I do enjoy binding edges  :D
