It's not usually possible to pattern match every join in binding that goes all around a quilt, but if the pattern is dominating then the last join can be hidden in a corner.

Whilst it's often said to be good practice to have diagonal joins, with anything that's rremotely striped, including the one Imi showed, I would do a straight join, much less obvious.

If the fabric is a directional print, cut accordingly. If not, do whatever works. I prefer straight cuts personally; just easier.

The quilt police are still safely locked in a shed.

I almost always do diagonal joins and cut across from selvedge to selvedge. Pattern matching has never occurred to me! It is patchwork after all  :laugh:
