I am now the new owner of the CV3440 coverstitch machine.  It is still in the box waiting for me to open it.  I had a short demo of it working and had a go myself.  It has all the bits except the tweezers. Got it for £270.  :)

Thank you @Elnnina.  I am reading the manual first.  I found the tweezers in the box.   :)

Nice bargaining! Am I correct in thinking this model does top coverstitching as well as bottom?

I'm not sure @Lachica ,  In the manual it does mention top cover stitching but that machine looks to have 5 threads not the four on this machine.

@Lilian , tissue paper may well work but then there is the bother of getting all of it out from the stitching.

I see what you mean having seen the back of the stitching, it is very close and would be a nightmare to get out.

I've had the 5 thread version of this machine for a few years now and had no problems with it at all. I went out to buy a Janome one, but the Brother came with the clear foot, (optional extra for Janome) and uses standard sewing machine needles, ( the Janome uses 'overlocker' needles) so I was persuaded.

As for not being used much in 2 years, it may be that the original owner hasn't sewn as much jersey/stretch fabric as she'd envisaged that she would.

I am pleased to say this model also has a clear foot included :)

When I  bought a clear foot for my coverstitcher I just could not understand why they're ever provided with anything else!   :[
I might look as though I'm talking to you, but inside my head I'm sewing.

@Acorn i think I read that the plastic doesn’t grip the fabric as well as the metal so could affect the result.
