Sewing Canvas Bags
« on: August 09, 2019, 15:02:31 PM »
I have been given some canvas off-cuts which are big enough to make bags.  It's not very heavy and the person who gave it to me said to use a Jeans 110/18 needle but didn't give any advice on what thread to use.  Is Gutermann Sew-All suitable or should I use a heavier thread with a longer stitch?

I’ve made lots of bags out of calico  and pvc etc.  I only use ordinary gutermann thread and make wide french seams on the side.

If you are going to use a 110/18 needle I'd suggest Gütermann Extra Strong, or maybe Gütermann Denim.  If you're going to use regular Sew All you only need a 90/14 needle.
