Late to the party and not complete as I need backing fabric.

Not sure about this, think I’ll make Courthouse Steps tomorrow and see if I like where it’s going.

Lully!  :loveit:

My efforts with batiks generally look as though I've dropped them in a puddle. @Iminei 's always look clean and clear as do yours.

I have added two more rounds to my Fabruary BOM, and here it is:

Forgive the incomplete squaring up and less than perfect pressing - I gave it a quick finish, but then someone stole both my cutting table and the iron's extension lead for a video conference.

Much better ... I must get some more fabric in the lighter black and whites and amend mine.
What width are the logs ?

I think I am going to have to do something about my Feb. BOM. My other two came to 12.5 inches, no probs, but this one came to 11.5, for some reason?  -< Will have to have a  :thinking:

@Lisalou1965  I found it very difficult to get a log cabin to 12 1/2" square so added a round of background fabric to flesh it out

I would advise you do that unless we can summon @BrendaP, The Goddess of Colour, The Mathmagician of The Darkside back to The Darkside for some advice ?????

@Acorn  ... 1 1/2" cut and a 2 1/2" cut centre ??? What size did it come out at ???

Yes - and it has come out at 12.5in (give or take the odd wobble).

(Finished, 2in centre plus 10 x 1in logs, plus outer seam allowance = 12.5in.)

@Lisalou1965   There you go, definitive measurements for the block ... and If I can get my act in gear, fabric wise,  I might amend my block too!

Agreed.

From what I've seen on this thread some of the blocks look to be 2" centre, three rounds of 1" logs and the outer log/sashing 2" wide, plus outer seam allowance = 12.5".

If either of those does not come to 12.5" then either your cutting is inaccurate or your 1/4" seam allowances are inaccurate.

IME log cabin blocks end up more accurate if each log is cut to length before cutting rather than just using a long strip and cutting off once sewn to the developing block.

You make a very good point @BrendaP  ... Thank you!
