When I di my sewing room, I initially put a long work top under the window, but found I couldn't see properly to sew with the light behind the machines, so moved the work top to one side wall.
I used a 2 metre (ish?) length of left-over kitchen worktop, one end on an Ikea Alex drawer unit, and the other end on two legs, again from Ikea.

In the wardrobe / Butterick B6101 - yet another version
« on: June 10, 2021, 17:12:26 PM »
Some fabric arrived yesterday, and it's all sewn up today  :)

It's slightly odd fabric, a polyester jersey with almost see-through fine lines in it.  Unfortunately, these lines ran across the fabric, not a good look for a fat lass.  As it stretches across and down, I decided to cut it sideways so the lines run vertically, which looks good, but that means it's more stretchy up and dwon, so I think it's made the hang a bit longer and narrower, but it's still ok.  And I just love the colour and design on the fabric.

A few changes to the pattern - I levelled the hem a bit at the sides, the pattern has it hanging quite low particularly on one side.  Also I don't do the little sticky-outy pocket, just the big one, which this time I've put a couple of tucks in the edge to stop it being so droopy.  And no little collar, just self binding.
No, it's not been pressed, I think it would just melt...

I like it  0_0

Gosh, that's amazing!  Like the others, I like the lace round the waistband too.

i gave up making trousers!  I've done them in the past very successfully, but now I'm even fatter, I just can't be bothered!

I only really wear jeans or denim shorts anyway, and if I order enough different ones, I eventually find some that fit - this dratted fashion for high waist is a pain though, I can only wear a low waist.

Fun with Fabric / Re: double gauze help

(checks top I'm currently wearing)

Looks like I used a lightweight iron on for the front facings.  It appears to have crinkled up nicely just like the fabric since being washed many times.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Vogue Summer patterns

I can’t get my head round V1800. Is it just the colour, the stiffness of the fabric, the shapelessness around the waist?
Not all dresses have shaping at the waist, thank goodness, I have my own in-built shapelessness at the waist.
But - dropped puff sleeves? Really??  :S
