Today... One thread per day / Re: Wednesday 8th December
« on: Yesterday at 10:01:16 »
'Mornin' All, after a really bad night, I woke up to more grim weather... just glad I have no plans for the day.   I can't see any obvious damage, and I'm not about to go out and look!

Yesterday, which should have been free and clear, turned into something of a nightmare.  Between the bank, supplier, and a frozen shoulder of lamb falling out of the freezer onto my foot, it was a horrible day - and that's without the weather!  My foot is swollen,  painful and radiant this morning - blues and greys mostly...

So this morning will be one email to the supplier to remind her that using the Remittance Advice I send will mean she should not have a full page of queries for me...  :headbang:

Then onto the Christmas stockings.  I'm getting bored with them now, my neck and shoulder were killing me yesterday when stoning the first one, hopefully today it will be less painful.

Hope you all have a peaceful, untroubled day

'Morning All!  My long post has just vanished into the ether!

Weather is beyond filthy today, so good job I'm not planning any outings!  :thumb:  I think we may also be in the path of the storm, but I hope it blows itself out without too much damage.

Had a very hurty mishap this morning, I went to lift a couple of lamb shanks out of the freezer, and a dirty great shoulder of lamb dropped on my left foot...  :headbang:  I'm afraid very bad words were uttered - and I'm not usually a bad word person... :embarrassed:

Exhausted from my efforts yesterday, I'm planning a quiet one today, finishing off the last two Christmas Stockings.  I spent several hours yesterday cleaning and repairing a Plane and a Bus, which usually live on the window ledge.  They have to be moved to display the Knitted Nativity, which OH loves.  However, every time I move them, more bits fall off.  So, I gave them a through clean, then went to work with the glue.  Everything is now stuck down, although not necessarily where it should be, and I eventually managed to unstick my fingers...

Thoughts are with everyone with troubles today

Good Morning All!  Grey, wet, cold and miserable here - best not dwell on it...

Busy, busy, busy few days - felt quite normal at the time, but I'm jiggered!!

Lilya is a very organised shopper, so Saturdays shopping trip wasn't too painful, and she got almost everything she needed (and quite a lot she didn't need! ) We finished at the trainer store on Sunday morning, before heading off to the baby shower.  Home by 8.30, absolutely exhausted...  OH stayed at home as he isn't feeling too well, so the pain was mine.

Just had a text message from BF, who is after making a jacket, can I help?  We do it by pictures, texts and videos, and I learn a lot  :thumb:

Off to make a brew now, then a little routine paperwork and onto the last 2 Christmas stockings!

For those of you with troubles

Good Morning All!  Wintery sunshine out there this morning, just glad I'm in the warm today.

Where has the week gone?  It will be Christmas before we know it!

OH isn't feeling so good, and under orders to take an LFT test, and ring the GP, otherwise he'll be waiting until Monday...

Had a smashing day out with my lovely friend in Southport - boy was it cold, but bright winter sun!!  Fortunately we were able to stay warm in Beales, where a coat happened to fall into my basket!  Then lunch at the Auberge, which was wonderful - you can tell I haven't been out for a while can't you?

I've washed my hair this morning - usually a weekend job as it takes so long to dry, because the lovely Lilya is coming to stay on Saturday, so that we can take her on a Christmas Shopping trip. :thumb:  Really looking forward to it - it's a long time since I've taken a little girl shopping!

Busy day today, wrapping and hiding Christmas presents, and finishing off the Baby Shower gift for Sunday!

To friends out there having hard times

Good Morning All!  A wintery sun is trying to break through today, but there is precious little heat in it.  Everywhere needs a jolly good spruce up...

Well, my Sewjo came back with a vengeance yesterday - Christmas Stockings will do that for me.  I've made good progress on 3 stockings, and also finished a very simple self bound blanket, so feeling pleased with myself!  No sewing done this morning as I'm waiting for the electrician to fix the light in the office, and worried I'll miss him if I get engrossed...

A bit of paper to deal with, but once the electrician has been, I'll be fiddling around with stockings!

Happy Retirement @Acorn !  Plenty of 'please yourself' time now!

For those with troubles

A Good Yarn / Re: WINTER SOCK KNIT ALONG
« on: November 29, 2021, 09:56:15 AM »
Sorry I've been AWOL, but stuff intervened which meant I have been unable to pick up either knitting or sewing for several weeks.  I had two weeks of infections which laid me low, and last week, the middle finger of my right hand was causing me so much pain, I could barely hold a pen, much less knitting needles.

This week, I feel so much better, but not sure I'll catch up with everything, so I will concentrate on what is possible.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Smart non shirt tops
« on: November 23, 2021, 09:33:01 AM »
@Vezelay , the neck height is determined by how high you sew the front seam which joins the two front pieces together.  My first one showed rather too much cleavage, but on later ones I have adjusted the length of the seam.  As long as you leave the neck opening wide enough to fit your head through, you will be fine.

@Vezelay , From what I remember this top is on the slim side, but mine is heavily edited as I'm a bit busty!  In fact, this last one turned out a little snug, because I hadn't allowed for the lack of stretch in the fabric I used.  Very easy to adjust though, especially the neck height.

I would use the first one as a (wearable) toile, so that so can see how everything goes together.

I've just made another Presto Popover top from Savage Coco Patterns, and I like it just as much as when I made it years ago.  It has an unusual construction - but very easy.

It used to be a free pattern, but I've just had a quick look, and it's not free any more...

It's available HERE

Patterns Discussion / Re: Asking the impossible

This has really caught my fancy as I love a shirt dress!  I've just Binged a search on Shirt Dress Patterns, and some very pretty ones have turned up on Images.

THIS was one I liked Sedona Shirt Tunic Dress Sewing Pattern, but a rather old Burda one caught my eye 06-2013 #120.

Maybe a seach on Pattern Review would help?  I do this all the time, and I really aggravate myself - why can't I just save it?

The last Butterick shirt dress I did had a back pleat, but not dropped sleeves.  I also have a Threadcount one, but again, doesn't appear to have dropped sleeves.
