Great idea. I made some checked trousers which don't really go with anything.

I am going to inlcude them in the SWAKOP by making a dark grey cardigan (StyleArc Nina) and a top of some sort, possible white.

Greybird, Brilliant transformation!
That is absolutely beautiful. Love the way you made a lace top and a separate cami from the skirt.
Agree its better without the whiskery bits.

A few days ago I finished sewing the charcoal grey pinstripe linen trousers.

This is using New Look 6216 again as it is working so well for me at the moment.

My SWAKOP is finally beginning to form. I decided that if I kept charcoal grey as the key theme I could have
Charcoal grey with teal pinstripes - trousers and cardigan jacket
some sort of teal top to make up that pod

Then Charcoal grey pinstripe linen trousers with a soft waistcoat from the scraps
some sort of coloured top to make up that pod

Then the Charcoal grey checked trousers with a charcoal grey cardigan and probably a white top for the final pod.

And then some sort of dark grey? coat to go over the top

In the wardrobe / StyleArc - discount of 25% at the moment

I see that StyleArc have a discount of 25% at the moment so I need to get on and order the patterns I have been drooling over but not actually buying.

Yay

Linen trousers finished and some cotton ones cut out but not yet started sewing.
Will do a photo and add.

Had a rustle in the fabric cupboard and found several possible options.
Have decided to start with a charcoal pinstripe linen.
Already prewashed, so good to go.

I just can't imagine how having some sort of band on the thighs is in the least bit comfortable, but each to their own!
The "bit" that rubs is the entire area from crutch to knee so can't see that working for me, thanks for trying to help though.

I'm going to raid the fabric cupboard tonight and see what I can find.
Maybe I can get dressed at the last minute with the fan on and then get out to the car for the aircon, before I turn into a hot sweating mess. Its going to be 30 degrees on Thursday. Not very English at all.

As the hot weather continues I am struggling a bit to find things for work.
The office does have aircon though its a bit patchy, and my car has aircon too. My house however is 1980s and gets quite hot. This is OK at home as can wear shorts, printed viscose trousers etc, but not OK for getting ready for work.
Tops wise I can wear short sleeved tops in breathable fabrics OK. However my normal polyester mix trousers are very sticky when I first get dressed. I'm going to raid the fabric cupboard for thinner but work suitable fabrics and make either culottes or trousers for work.
(My thighs chafe in skirts and dresses, requiring culotte slips, which is an extra layer so not really interested in them.)

I have some things stashed away to be revisited, though not sure quite what I shall go for.

I have a jersey skirt with horizontal frills (not flattering) which could be a top.
A striped dress which could be a top
A dress which is too tight in the hips and too large in the bust, another top I suspect.

It has cooled down slightly in North Derbyshire, so I'm going back in the sewing room, probably fixing curtains though rather than SWAKOPing....

I seem to be in a similar place to Elephun, a combination of sewing 6PACs, SWAPs etc and some RTW shopping in both thrift stores and outlets has resulted in a wearable wardrobe for my current size.
I'm struggling a bit with the heat, and may need to review as I lose weight, so I have more leeway to sew for fun rather than needing it to get dressed.

A few cool tops with sleeves which could pass muster at work would be good.
Also some alterations to RTW to fit better would also be helpful.
So I'm not saying I'm definitely bowing out of SWAKOP, but I'm no longer actively working it as I was.
Let's see how the weight loss goes.... I may have some new problems shortly!

Nice work beepbeepsew. I have stashed a few items away for recycling but am busy at work and just flopping in the evenings due to the heat.

Helen M taking the before pictures is a very sensible thing to do, then when inspiration stripes you can just go ahead with whatever you want to do.
I have put several things to one side for refashioning. We will have to see if anything happens with them!

Cardigan jacket finished. Yay.

Next up might actually do some alteration work before I move on to the next SWAKOP piece.

I am part way through my cardigan jacket in pinstripe and then something bad happened to the overlocker and my attempts to fix it made it worse. However there is a semi retired local chap called Keith who repairs sewing machines locally if you take them round to his garage.
So the beastie is now repaired and back home, just needs the thread putting back and I can get back to sewing.

I bought the overlocker in the mid to late 1990s and its the first time I recall it needing attention so I don't begrudge the money one little bit.
I may have something to share before the end of the day....
