I would always go for pure cotton for a baby.  I never minded ironing the babies' stuff as they were so quick to do but if you can get them out of the washer and give a good shake, they should be ok without ironing (not something I ever managed though!)

NEVER LEAVE WITHOUT FULL PAYMENT AT DELIVERY

And only by cash or card, not cheque as a cheque can be cancelled!  If they wish to pay by cheque (although who does these days) it mush be cleared by delivery date.

Not for me.  My backside doesn't need any extra help in the adding curves department!

Fun with Fabric / Re: (Mis) Managing the Stash

Mine is folded up with a label attached of how much and fibre content where known and stored in an Ikea fabric shoe type box in type of fabric, eg, cottons, linings, satins.  It is amazing how much you can fit into one of those boxes.

That is quite a dull offering and I really don't get the cold shoulder thingy!

Ooh, I might join in in this one.  I have a floral drill that I am wanting to make a skirt with, and also a floral print that I want to make a top out of, but I need to find some polka dot fabric to go with it as there isn't enough of the floral for the top.  *off to have a look*

Oh that is really lovely Dolly.  I'd wear silk all day every day if I could, beach or no beach!

Good grief woman, about blinkin' time.  I just assumed you'd decided against joining us as you were far too busy!   :P

Welcome to the place!

A bit of a 'do' / Re: Bridesmaids Dresses

They look fab.  Well done!

You look lovely. Now go wear your dress with pride :-)

I think it looks lovely.  It is dark as has been said (and probably too dark for your colouring in an absolutely idea world) and I don't think the boots and dark tights help, but I've seen what you say re footwear.  Get a lighter cardi (you always need a cardi in Wexford!) and a funky statement necklace.  And try some lippy.  And it may be too late now but how about a pair of bootees rather than the heavy chunky black boots you have on in the photo.

But the dress is a keeper if you ask me!

I've come across this and fleetingly considered it but gathering over the old mum-tum really doesn't look great on me and I'd have to change the pattern.  So that and an FBA means too much work for me to be bothered!

In the wardrobe / Re: Hi there .... Errrmmmm I have a question ...

Unpick an inch or so of casing, [or just slit it on the inside if you can't]  pull up the elastic, and yeah, just sew out what you want to remove, then cut off the excess, let it boing back into the casing, and sew back down again.  Five minute job, and one of the few alterations I can be arsed to do!

Personally at only an inch or so, I wouldn't even bother cutting off the excess! But otherwise, I'd do this!

A bit of a 'do' / Re: Daughter's Satin Tuxedo Jacket
« on: March 08, 2018, 09:12:31 AM »
be wary of iron-on on satin...much opportunity for bubbling...

I totally agree and in fact I would never use it for this fabric or for a jacket, sew-in all the way!
