Today... One thread per day / Re: Monday Monday
« on: Today at 14:19:55 »
Work done for today and it included four jobs which were dropped off at about 8 o'clock this morning.

Ha ha....I haven't been secretive about a new purchase @Gernella and @Bill

It's still new to me. I bought it a year ago. It's a Janome HD2200. I don't love it but it'll do. I put a machine review about it here on the forum.
Wish it could have lasted a bit longer before developing a weird noise. The Bernina lasted for about 20 years before making funny noises.

It's still gloomy and it's raining now.

Monday again. Already  :S The weeks are whizzing by.

Slept well but I've woken early. I think it must have been my son pottering around, getting up for work. He was up at 6 to get to Birmingham.
Not sure what the weather's doing today. It's still a bit too dark to assess what the sky looks like but I think we might have rain forecast.

Work today will be to finish shortening the sleeves on a jacket, and then I've got two pairs of trousers to shorten.
My new machine's developed a strange noise coming from around the bobbin. It still works and there's no problem with the stitches, but it doesn't sound right. I've done all the obvious stuff to try to figure out what's going on but can't see anything amiss.

It's raining here and it's dark and gloomy. I'm sure my brother told me that this weekend was going to be pretty good and dry.  -<

Slept well last night but feel foggy headed this morning.

Niece phoned yesterday to say that she'd dropped a goody bag at the care home for Mum. She arranged a video call to Mum so went to see my Dad so he could join in.  :)
She said that Mum looked really well  but Dad got a bit upset. He's worried to phone the home in case Mum doesn't know who he is. Neither of them can hear very well, so conversations are difficult, even when face to face.
Mum said, 'Oh! That's my husband'....when she saw him on the screen.

I've got heaps of paperwork to go through with the house sale. Ex has filled in all the bits he could but there's a lot for me to do, and to check, too.
I have no photographic ID. My passport's out of date and although I have a full driving licence, it's the old style one. I don't drive so I've never bothered to change it.
I've contacted them to ask them what to do.

Lovely to hear from you @Silver Rose  Hope things are improving for you today.

Grey and gloomy today and I feel a bit chilly. The heating's on but I've got a vest top on under my long sleeved top for a bit of extra warmth.

I'm going to shorten some curtains today.
Did a pair yesterday and they were horrible. Not very big (for a change) but they were reversible  :S and the fabric was snaggy. I had no idea my fingertips and nails were so shredded and rough but I kept catching the fabric as I handled them.
The ones I'm doing today are a normal pair, again thankfully, they're not very big.
After I've done these I'll shorten the sleeves on a jacket.

A bit brighter this morning than it's been lately. I can see a little bit of blue sky today.

Mum has Covid.
It'll be four weeks this coming Sunday since we were last able to visit her due to a member of staff having the virus so they closed the home off to outside visitors to prevent it spreading.
This could go on for weeks and weeks...
She's 'well', so it could be worse, and they'll let us know if there's any change.

Got loads of work done yesterday but I've still got 2 pairs of curtains to shorten  :\ and a jacket to shorten the sleeves. I'll get the jacket done today. The curtains are going to have to wait.

Son had a good day yesterday in his new job.  :) He seems happy. Hope it continues.
Daughter had a late night last night at a concert in Birmingham. I expect she'll have plenty to tell me when she emerges from her bed.

Grey and gloomy out.

Was woken to the sound of my son pottering around, getting ready for work. It's his first day today.
He left a little after 7. I didn't know he was capable of getting himself together at such an early hour.  0_0
He's in Brum for a few days, then closer to home in Wolverhampton next week so he won't have to get up quite so early.

I have easy work on my rail.  It's mainly trouser alterations. Three let out waists  and four shortens  :)
First though, I need to shorten a coat which I enjoy doing.

Sending good wishes to @Silver Rose although I'm sure to have missed you by now. I meant to wish you well yesterday evening but I got lost on youtube watching videos about Pompeii.  :S

I've made a start but I had to pop back to show you this.  0_0

Plugged my new iron in, went to the ironing board to press the sleeves up at the new, shorter hemline.
Iron is still cold.  >< -< :S  I only began using it the other day.
It's a brand new iron.

Might be a loose wire or something on the extension.

Grey and overcast this morning.

I can hear my daughter's woken up already and she's going to pester me to bleach her hair. I'd rather have the chance to get a bit of work done first and do her hair later this morning but I'm not sure if she'll let me.

The flat she's 'moving in to on 1st Dec' isn't going to happen because her dad hadn't left a deposit and when he tried, he was suspicious of the paying in details, so he's going to abandon that particular one and find another.

My son attended an interview yesterday and has got the job. Hurrah!
Maybe our luck's changing for the better.
Maybe I've spoken too soon.

A few bits and bobs on my work rail. Nothing massively awkward. The urgent job has arrived with the Dry Cleaner today. A jumpsuit to shorten the legs and also pinch up the spaghetti straps a little bit.

Almost finished breakfast.

I've been awake for some time due to thinking I could hear something...a faint humming sound?
Anyway. Here I am and I'm just having breakfast too. No idea what disturbed me. Probably nothing.

I've got some work to do today but it's mainly easy stuff.
It's going to be a long morning and elevenses are going to be more like tenses.

We have a bit of blue sky today.

Slept very well last night.

Did absolutely no tidying up or packing away yesterday, but I thought about it and you know what they say...it's the thought that counts.
I did drop a couple more bags of clothing in the local clothing bank.

I've actually got work on my rail today! Menswear shop dropped quite a few items round yesterday but I won't be touching them today. Mostly easy stuff.
No sign of the Dry Cleaner with the mystery urgent job.

I did something a bit naughty but nice yesterday.
I've bought myself a ticket £££  :scream: to a meet and greet with Ozzy Osbourne.
My son already has a ticket and we were talking about it yesterday. So now I've got one too.

Need something to look forward to.  :meditation:
If it happens, it's next March.

Mine's going to have to be put aside for now.

All of the blocks are done and I have enough (I think) of the background fabric for the sashing. It's easier to put it to one side in this state than to half-assemble it and to come back to it in the future and try to remember where I'd got to.

I have no work unless the Dry Cleaner suddenly arrives with this mystery urgent job he mentioned yesterday.

Grey and gloomy again this morning. The last few days have all looked like it could rain any time soon, but it hasn't, and it's been warm.

Suppose I need to pack things away and box things up. Notice has been given to the people living in my kids house so I'm expecting trouble/problems from them and from my ex.
Still not sure where to start on the packing/boxing dilemma. Might go in my bedroom cupboards.

Gloomy and grey again but it doesn't feel cold.

Didn't sleep very well last night due to the neighbours shouting and playing music until 2 or 3-ish. They'd had about three hours of loud arguments all evening.

Dry Cleaner's been with a pair of trousers to replace the zip. He said he's got an urgent job which he's waiting for the customer to bring in. Hopefully he'll get it to me tomorrow. Don't know what needs to be done.

There's still no word about when we can visit my mum. It's been nearly three weeks now since we were last able to visit her.

I don't over-think buying a new iron. They don't last long here.
As long as they feel 'right' when I hold them, they'll do.

I used an old Morphy Richards dry iron for several years until it went BANG!  :S It was perfect because I mainly press through a pressing cloth anyway so don't really need steam.
My ex said it used to belong to his Nan and she died about 1994.
