That's lovely - this block really does have an incredible number of variations.

Oh yes - bats!  As cats are in my black books at the moment I'll embrace that totally!

I'm back up to date!

I used the same patterned fabric as for January, which I realised is like 4 cats' faces, and whether they're cats or not, the two blocks go very well together!

Embroidery and Embellishment / Re: Water soluble stabiliser
« on: April 11, 2018, 10:29:06 AM »
I use water soluble stabiliser as a default, but I haven't tried it on anything finer than a medium weight cotton (prewashed unless I am absolutely confident that it won't shrink).

As I'm sure you realise, it's no good trying to just gently rinse away the stabiliser because if you don't wash it away completely you will get a starched effect.

I have no idea whether silk satin is likely to shrink - or to wash well.  Oh dear.   ><  How frustrating not to have a sample to test.

Yes - I'm sure I've seen them for at least one of the big 4, but I can't find any now.   :[

I will definitely be doing it, but it will be later in the month (guests, work, other demands etc etc).  I will probably leave the eyes off though, because I am waging permanent war on three cats that haunt our fields and try to get to the bird feeders, so cat is a four letter word around here.  ><  I also want it to go with the Jan and Feb blocks.

I would pay good money for one of those.

Your Favourite Suppliers / Re: New (to me) online fabric shops
« on: April 05, 2018, 19:44:27 PM »
The first one - bizarrely - has mixed prices.  Some are per metre and some per fat quarter, but the fat quarters are not all quilting fabrics.  The jersey section has fat quarters for some fabrics and metres for others.  Oh, and you can't tell which is which until you look at the details page for each fabric - the thumbnails page implies that they are all fat quarters.

Weird.   :o

I love using my fabric shears - they make such a wonderful noise!  I'm also not very good with a rotary cutter, even when I'm cutting straight lines.

That said, I can certainly see the possible benefits if you have arthritic hands, or small hands, or some other reason that scissors are uncomfortable.

Here's a map of the counties of Britain.

And here's a link to a definition of the South-East of England, which says:  "South East England is the most populous of the nine official regions of England ... It consists of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex."

(Sorry, but I had to do something to stop myself from banging my head on the wall.   :P )
