Thanks for this. I didn't know she was branching out into magazines. Sounds interesting  :D

This looks a good issue. Sadly though, my WH Smith's has stopped stocking them, and I can't find another local newsagent that does.   -<

Hello and welcome from a Stopfordian now resident in Kent. Wish I was closer to meet up. The Lutterloh system garments always look interesting. Hope you find lots to entertain you at the Sewing Place.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hi from North Staffs

Hello jane-k. I had a similar reaction to domestic science teaching! I remember sewing up some very strange items, often not fitting. Thankfully I put that behind me and enjoy garment sewing mainly for myself. Hope you find many new ideas and inspirations here

In the wardrobe / Re: Sewing Mistakes. Grrrrr!

If I'm being organised I try to stitch black items in black and lower thread grey. However I'm usually not all that organised. :[ I've just done a black fluffy jacket and spent ages trying to unpick without making it bald!  :\

Fun with Fabric / Re: Another jersey question
« on: March 25, 2018, 18:21:30 PM »
I've bought jersey fabric from Tissu Fabrics online. They've always been reliable. They have many different sorts of jersey too.

I have made V1297 and it turned out great.  I made it for a friend and she says its invaluable for slipping over swimwear when going from pool to restaurant/bar on ship.  Don't think she had the gathered bits on it though.

What a good idea. Yet another use for it. Actually the Tilton one might make a good slipover swimwear thing. I'm really looking forward to these. Now to get the fabric....or is there anything in the stash? :-)

Thanks to Sewmuchmore again! :-)

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hello from the wilds of Kent
« on: March 13, 2018, 09:59:02 AM »
Thanks to everyone for the lovely welcome. I've lived in Kent now for 40 years, so practically a native. It's nice to know there are fellow sewers around. The Vulcan sewing machine is the first one for me! I've still got it somewhere, though recently packed it away to protect it and have now forgetfully lost it. Still it will turn up again. My real desire in sewing machines is that amazing Singer Rocketeer. It looks so wonderful! I too am mainly into selfish sewing and frequently join the MAGAM challenges on Instagram run by the lovely Sarah Liz. Happy sewing everyone  :toast:

Hi, I'm new... / Hello from the wilds of Kent

Hi I'm Sewcycle from Kent. I'm interested mainly in garment sewing for myself. I really like Katherine and Marcy Tilton designs, but try to make things that are practical too, for my shorter than average self. I have done some quilting, and really a bit of most crafts. Hello to everyone  :)
