Still problems with intermittent internet. So annoying. Not funny any more!  Tis grey and dull but not too cold  - last time I went out it was 11.  Feeling depressed now - no family for Christmas, looks as if just the two of us again.  Village has cancelled all events too. As I don't do decorations there will be no christmas cheer chez Catllar again.  I had bought presents to take to UK including some traditional food goodies. I'm not trusting anything to the post so I guess I must find something online for GD.  I will send one card ( another of my hates - christmas cards).  Should be sewing this afternoon but had a poor night so a bit tired today. Think I'll think about sewing so at least it's a start!

Hi all. Not a bad day today but I think I must be coming down with something as following on from yesterday's housework, today I cleaned the oven - what is wrong with me?  We have no internet or wifi at the moment. At least it is very sporadic and s      l      o             w.

Rang Orange yesterday and they sent a man with 1) a new box and 2) a bloody great cherry picker thing. :scream:  As he came in he said we were one of several on our lane to have problems as someone had sliced through the overhead cable with a lorry and we won't be repaired for a few days. :faints:  We have occasional bursts of contact as the wires inside the cable touch occasionally. Perfect!  He said he woudn't need the cherry picker at ours but he changed the box anyway.

Started my flamenco top order but I need her measurement round the shoulders and upper arm to make sure the blous is wide enough to pull down for the sexy off shoulder look she wants. SO it'll have to wait.

Can't print off a Love Notions pattern because can't connect this particular laptop to the printer. My usual little laptop where I have all my downloaded patterns is also throwing a hissy fit due to lack of internet speed.  I hate technology.

Hi, I'm new... / Re: Hello Everyone

Hello from me - darksider and lighsider! Just a hint - please remember to refill the biscuit tin if you notice it's empty. :VV: :thumb:

Hah - I see!

What you going to do with it when it's done? Is it going to a charity or being raffled ? Is that even a word?

There are some interesting styles on there - I've downloaded a few but actually not yet made any up!

A bit of a 'do' / Re: Bone or underline?

I'm late to this but my comment is " Boning for an 8 year old's dress?" Really?  Waist stay for the skirt weight but keep the bodice as simple as possible - line and interline .  Look forward to a picture or two! :)

Mine's correctly labelled @Iminei.  There are some beautiful colour choices there - the resulting masterpiece will be amazing!

Patterns Discussion / Blouse for teacher!
« on: November 19, 2021, 13:02:52 PM »
My flamenco teacher has asked me to mke her  boho peasant blouse and I thought I had pattersn galore for those, but no, they went in the last cull.

So I'm looking for a gathered neck- with or without a frill ( I don't think that would be too flattering on her)  that can be worn off shoulder or on, with long  sleeves gathered into a cuff. I guess I need raglan shaping to be able to scuff it off the shoulder.

I have some pretty cotton batiste and some cotton lace for a few sleeve inserts and all I'm missing is a pattern.  She's a big gal with 121cm bust.  Any ideas please?

That looks like fun!

@Lilian  your top is lovely!

Not in a happy place at the mo! My lack of exactitude in piecing ( being of the "that'll do, it's near enough" school) has caught me up and I find have some extremely inaccurate blocks, so  I started unpicking quite a lot of them to restitch with better SAs. Once I'd unpicked a couple it dawned on me - why don't I just add a BG frame to get the correct sizes, so I'll have another go tomorrow - restitch my original ones and add some frames where necessary and this is leading me down another road that could include some half squares and offset blocks - so I'm making more work for myself. Sigh.

Yep thanks, @Iminei, I looked through the tutorial and also found some other methods care of mr google.

So today I plan to start making up the quilt. Discovered that one of my blocks is totally small and no point are neat and in short it looks a mess, so I'll remake it.  QAYG will be a first for me. There are many ways to do it so it seems so I'm going to see if I need any sashing first and then my plan is to make columns and then treat each column as a block. Would that work oh wise ones?
