Embroidery Machines / Re: Twice in 24 hours with Elvis ...
« on: April 14, 2018, 08:11:07 AM »
Well I'm getting the hang of programming the software, positioning etc.

Elvis is actually a doddle as he stitches beautifully as you can see.

I think my problem is (apart from Labels) I don't know what to do with Elvis !

Now there's a confession!!!

I have to admit to having a similar problem, even though I teach these machines as I told you, over the years I know struggle to find what I want to do.  I am a plain sole by heart, I am attracted to simple styles and clean lines so embroidery is not always my thing.
I don’t have children to do things for and there is a limit to how many cushions one wants.  I also hand embroider ( not a lot).
Always looking for ideas so would be great to see other peoples items.

Embroidery and Embellishment / Re: Water soluble stabiliser
« on: April 12, 2018, 08:38:59 AM »
Do try different types of water soluble, my favourite for most things is the one that is more fabricy and not like plastic.  I find it much easier to cut away and wash off for general embroidery, you can get lots of different makes, I generally use Avalonplus.
Talking about stabilises does anyone have a good way to store them, they drive me mad, I have quite a collection but they all come on different sized rolls or flat etc.?

Good luck to everyone, I would love to take part but my quilting is really at beginner level, maybe this summer I will try a little more practise and be able to contribute if you do this again.  I have only made one very small quilt which I gave to a friend.

Actually just to make things interesting I am only just in Surrey by a few metres, I know I am officially in the South East but somehow seemed to type South west, You are right Lynn,  when driving home from London. I drive South West so that is what it feels like.

Forgot to say my other interests include Machine knitting and weaving.

Sewing Machines / Re: Bernina foot controll

If the machine works with the stop start button I think it must be the foot control, can you possibly borrow one to try.

Just so you know I read the post I agree with the advice you have been given.  I mainly use the machines that have separate embroidery units on them When teaching but I also love heirloom sewing (no expert) and your machine is great for a lot of the decorative stitching.

Thank you everyone for the welcome, I am happy to help with embroidery and software problems if I can, I am sure I will be asking questions of lots of you too.  I live about 40 miles outside of London and am really more central than South West but I do tend to travel more towards the west.
My main problem is finding the time, the inspiration and the energy all at once when it comes to sewing, hopefully I will find some great inspiration here but I might loose some time as I will be busy reading lots of posts.

Hi, I'm new... / Hello from south west UK
« on: March 29, 2018, 08:46:30 AM »
Hello I am from the UK and am not really new I registered a while ago but got waylaid by life, then lost my password and so I am sure you know what I mean.
I sew mainly garments but am interested in lots of aspects of sewing, I have done a little quilting but am no expert.  I use and teach embroidery machines and the software, Overlockers are my great love, I also  love to knit and also sometimes bead.
I have had a break recently from sewing but really want to get back into it, I am looking forward to reading more on this site
