A bit of a 'do' / Re: Jackety things to wear over dressy dresses
« on: May 09, 2019, 10:48:46 AM »
@SewRuthieSews   Nice dresses and I can see how versatile they would be.
Difficult to know what to suggest except that I think a shrug would work with either; I'm thinking of something made in a nacre fabric, which you could run up yourself?

Nacré: Velvet with an effect similar to shot silk, where the pile is woven in one or more colours and the base fabric in another, creating a changeable, iridescent effect.

Thanks to everyone for their input and encouragement @Iminei et al.
I gave the quilt yesterday to the girl at work and she was delighted with it. :)
My next project is the Clothkits
 https://clothkits.co.uk/products/baby-changing-bag-and-mat-nursery-organiser-vintage-clothkits-sewing-kit
This needs to be made for the Baby Shower on 22nd June.
I know a kit is a bit of a cheat, but its more for practice and confidence building.

However, I do have a stash of fat quarters and not insignificant quantity of other fabric  so I will be attempting the Iminei Cot Quilt tutorial from scratch when I'm not under any time pressure.
Thanks again (I think :) for inveigling me over to the Dark Side.

Jessie - that picture brought to a tear to my eye :D
After all your (family) tribulations, it must be so heartwarming to see the joy in their faces.
You truly are a talented treasure!

@hernibs
B6081 - I just checked this out and, indeed, it is a Vest/Gilet - I'll be very happy to buy this pattern along with the Vogue, and Style Arc.

Sorry for any confusion.

(This is the one I was after ...)

@b15erk
I'm sure you already know .... but when bing opens, just put google (www.google.com) in the bing search bar and it should give you a google search page.

Do you mind adding a post just showing the patterns still available?
Thanks in advance.

@Ohsewsimple
I did find an Elna 774 demonstration threading guide on YT a while ago and thought I'd saved it to my favourites, but now I can't find it.... :'(

896
I've lost the plot with trying to thread my overlocker.  I've had it for several years and now and again its temperamental and I have to rethread it.
It played up this evening and I can't remember how to thread the lower looper!
45 minutes later and I'm still struggling.
I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to an auto-threader and wondered which might be the best to buy.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

@Iminei
The shop supplied the fabric FOC and as I was able rescue the other pieces from the original version I was satisfied with the suppliers offer.  There's a big chunk if the green left to put towards another project.
(FYI  this was my first quilt so us a bit of a watershed for me.)
Any suggestions for the next project?
I'm looking for something small scale.

@Iminei
Is this any better than my last awful attempt?

Just thought I'd give a "thumbs-up" to this (for Janome Category D machines) - my eyesight is not good and this really helps!

@Farrener
M&M are in Rye and do workshops on some of their patterns.

I think there's one for the Parka.
