Tech Know How / Free motion embroidery-where to post?

I love doing free-motion embroidery. It doesn’t seem to fit into any of the categories here. Where do you recommend I post about it?

Does anyone have recommendations for quilting classes for beginners? :D
While I am sure you can find videos and on-line courses, nothing beats a live person, right there with you. Do any of your local sewing shops offer classes?

There is a chain-store here (Joann Fabric & Crafts) that does.  I have taken some classes there and found them helpful.

@snoozi soozi take a close look at the little animals. They have spots and the little horns on their heads, Ike giraffes.  They are baby giraffes, thus the short necks.  And they are adorable.

1. Stop when you’re tired. You will make far fewer mistakes.

2. Keep some scrap fabric handy to test new stitches, check thread tension, etc.  I always test on some scrap before sewing anything I care about.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: Cutting table
« on: September 05, 2019, 13:44:15 PM »
@Sara-S  your cutting table is also your cutting table?
If you are asking if it is also my sewing table, yes.  Due to limitations of space, I work small, making items such as quilted placemats and embroidered wall hangings.

My tablet is adjustable. For sewing, I set it at 72 cm.  For shutting, I like it at its maximum height of 94 cm. (I am tall and at this setting, I do not have to lean down too much.)

My cutting table (which is also my cutting table) is a folding table. The height is adjustable, up to 36” and it folds down to s 2 x 2 foot square. As my home is small, I sometimes need to stow it in a closet.  This is the table;

Sewing Machines / Re: How many machines do you have?
« on: September 05, 2019, 13:16:37 PM »
I was right. With just 3 I am a beginner. (Though I can’t see the need for others, based on the things I am doing.) The smallest one is likely to be the first to wear out, as it is so light it probably has a lot of plastic parts.  When that goes I am not likely to replace it.

@Acorn I’ve seen vintage sewing machines, but never one like that. Does it work?

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Terminology question
« on: September 04, 2019, 13:36:35 PM »
I see posters here using the term “wadding”.  I’m assuming you mean the layer of fluffy stuff in between the layers of fabric. If I’m correct, it’s what I call “batting”,  Please tell me if I am making the correct assumption. Thanks.
