Side seams and pleats all sewn, I've got a suitable zip and bias binding so if we get the rain as promised i'll be getting on with my skirt.

Finished them this morning, just got to hand sew the hems. The replacement foot pedal seems more sensitive to use or perhaps the old one really was jiggered.

I've just sewn 32 tailors tacks on my skirt to mark the pleats 
they are sewn down 6" from the waist to form the box pleats. Have I got a navy zip? Better have a delve into my habby box and find some navy bias binding as well for the waist facing. Oops, getting ahead of myself.

Pleased to announce I have bought the Janome and it could be here by the weekend 
He also demonstrated a similarly priced Britannia machine, a brand I hadn't heard of, it was heavier and looked bulkier but had many of the same features as the Janome, he sewed through eight thicknesses of denim to show how robust it was.
I got the replacement foot pedal for the Alfa only to find when we got home it had the wrong size 3 pin connector to the machine. Of goes the boy wonder to town again and came back with the correct one, they had given me the pedal for the newer machines not the old style.
4" off my hair now it is a bit like Esme's of GBSB but not so severe looking, same colour though

I cut out this skirt from McCall's 7714 dress pattern [ You are not allowed to view attachments ] I am making it with this cotton lawn [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
It is a lovely light and soft silk-like cotton just right for soft pleats. There are a lot of tailor tacks to mark all the pleats but this is the third time I have made the skirt so I'll sit quietly sometime and do them.

Thank you for your comments everyone, I've looked at a couple of YouTube reviews and I think this machine would suit my needs and be a step up for me and not cost too much, I want to replace my recently expired laptop as well so having a bit of a spend at the moment. I'll make up my mind tomorrow when I go to Franklins.

Aw thanks @Ellabella I can't finish them until I get the replacement foot pedal, Franklins chap advised me not to use the damaged pedal so I shall have to wait a few days.
I've already got a pattern out for a skirt with unpressed pleats for the next challenge then I remembered I cut out an apron from leftover poppy fabric - aprons are not essential so it can wait.

When I collect my replacement foot pedal from Franklins this week I am going to look at the Janome 230DC. It is a small step up from my Alfa and computerised which will be new to me. Has anybody had one or is using one now? I would appreciate your comments, thank you in advance.
