Oh that's a shame. Fingers crossed you manage to get round the fade!

Can you still get your pieces out of it if you fold your selvedges in to the centre?

I've not had fade on the centre fold but have had a crease that wouldn't press out so was visible.

I've just heard that she posted elsewhere within the past month, which is good news.

@jintie I believe she sadly passed away.  She was such a talented lady.

Actually she is still alive according to an article on previous Sewing Bee Winners published April 2019. It said she was 81 when she won. https://inews.co.uk/culture/television/the-great-british-sewing-bee-winners-list-who-won-past-series-where-now/

There is an obitury on Google but it must be for someone else with the same name.

The spelling of Anne is different as well.

I remember making a bag like that at school. I've since made several for family members who knit with nice remnants of cotton curtain fabric and curtain lining for the insides.

Patterns Discussion / Re: Pattern Sizing

I'd say one factor could be the difference in fabric.

Back in the 70s I didn't buy my fabric until I'd laid out the pattern to ensure I bought the bare minimum. I was still at school & hard up. These days I'm just tight, I aim to be like @toileandtrouble.

I used to do the same on my kitchen floor which just so happened to have squares in the design so ideal for laying out pattern pieces. I'd put a marker at the width of the fabric I had in mind and maybe allow a bit if it had a pattern to it. I'm only 5ft 1" so I'd already have altered the pattern pieces.

834
Thanks for that Jessie, I think I'll do a toile of the yoke at least.

I had checked out the pattern on PR and it seems to be liked.

835
Thank you Brenda.

I've just printed off the pattern so will study the yoke pieces tomorrow. I've not decided on which of the short sleeves to do. It may depend on the amount of fabric I have to work with.

Technical Help / Square shoulder adjustment on a pattern with a yoke
« on: July 02, 2019, 12:06:21 PM »
Can anyone tell me how I manage this please?

I usually make up to 1/2" adjustment to a normal pattern with a shoulder seam with success but I shy away from raglan sleeves and the one attempt at a top with a sort or yoke didn't work. I'm not sure if it was the pattern or me that time.

The one that failed had the back come over to the front so no proper shoulder seam to work with. I cut into the the pattern at shoulder point and flared it out a bit. It didn't fit round the neckline and the shoulders didn't lie flat. As I said maybe it was half the fault of the pattern.

The pattern I'm planning on useing is Love Notions Rhapsody blouse https://www.lovenotions.com/product/rhapsody-blouse-xs-xxxl. It has a proper yoke and wondered if I should just add a little at the lower outer edge and hope for the best? This will be the first time that I have used their patterns so don't know how they fit.

Any thoughts?

It's beautiful so I'm not surprised you are apprehensive on what to make!

It's still safe and supported until Jan 2020, the same as W7. Some sites run slow with it though.

Glad it all helps!

Located the email about the Harper! It is the seam on the back collar that we both changed. For some reason they tell you to do a French seam on Ponte...... too thick and not needed as it is enclosed. Check your instructions for that part because it will be very bulky if they say the same on the Estelle.
