I'm glad I'm not the only one who scratches their head over Drops patterns!

Jessie

Me too! I just cannot get my head around them!

Hello and welcome to TSP!

I'm not far from Brum in Warwickshire, and lived in Bham and then the Black Country for a while. I am also an admirer of vintage machines although I have reduced my collection down to 2 now (Singer 201k and an Elna Lotus SP).

The fabric is stunning! Why is it called a “beanie baguette” bag?

I was wondering that too! Nice bag though

Looks great. There's always something satisfying about making a useful item like this :)

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: Two sewing rooms into one!
« on: April 03, 2022, 09:21:13 AM »

I'd be interested to hear how others cope when sorting out a loved ones work rooms!!

I found the things my Mum had started but not finished the most difficult and poignant. Eventually I got round to the view that if it were my stuff and my children were clearing out my sewing room, then I'd be ok for them to bin things. Having said that, it's taken me well over 10 years since my mum died to reach this opinion!

I've had the pattern and fabric for some pyjamas for months. Maybe this is the push I need to actually start them!

If it were me, I'd need to keep space in my sewing room rather than too many things. Otherwise I'd get overwhelmed and do no sewing at all! Keep the things which inspire you. :)

I'm glad I went. I spoke to a nice lady on the Pfaff stand about my Ambition 620 and my failure to grasp finishing off with reverse or the stop stitch function. She demoed it and let me practice.

On my way home now. It was quite fun, browsing machines, fabrics and nic nacs. I bought a wool winder and a wall tidy kit. Tempted by some other things but resisted  The Woman's Weekly pattern exhibition brough back some memories of sewing with my mum in the 70s, crimplene much in evidence! Photos later

That's a cute cardi @Acorn  :thumb:

I've finished my baby cardi too - just need to finish off the loose ends of yarn and sew on the button. I'll post a photo once it's all done :)

I found the circular needles and magic loop method too fiddly with garter stitch in the round. I kept forgetting whether I should be knitting or purling! So I switched to dpns and that was much easier for me.

@b15erk Thanks. It's this pattern and is very cute  :)  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/norwegian-fir-top-down-cardigan

@Celia I don't need much encouragement to spent money! They are ordered now and should make the job easier  :)

Thanks @Celia . My size 9 circular needles are the bog standard type with a clunky join with the cable. I haven't got this size in my nice new knitpro interchangeables. I'd be best just ordering some, I think.
