I have been looking for a full length maternity leggings pattern without muchsuccess, preferrably a downloadable one. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Fun with Fabric / Re: (Mis) Managing the Stash
« on: May 14, 2018, 13:14:58 PM »
I started with a few plastic boxes with fabrics by type and plains/patterns separated. That was ok until more fabric mysteriously arrived in the popt, and there was no space in the appropriate box, but space in another. The end result is a mess. I really need to get it all out, and see exactly what is there. I think this time I might number the boxes, then photograph all the fabrics and note the box number. I can never find the exact piece of fabric that I want to use.

A dozen local shops. :loveit:...if only. It’s at least a two hour drive to get anything. The NE of England is a fabric desert.

North east Scotland is even worse! There are 2 new shops within a 30 minute drive, but mostly aimed at quilting, the dress fabrics were uninspiring, and very expensive.

Just come across this one Truffle Coat

Jessie

That looks closest so far Jessie, I also found Burda BD6486.  I'm going to Tesco today, so will see if they have any more in, if not, the hunt for fabric will be on

I saw a jacket in Tesco that was described as  a mac. Of course they did not have my size, and don;t have it online in the colour I want.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a similar pattern?

Embroidery Machines / Re: Multi-needle embroidery machines
« on: February 27, 2018, 17:12:52 PM »
I have just found this topic, so a bit late to reply. I have a Brother 10 needle machine. It was bought a year ago as ex-display - too good a bargain to miss, although I had not intended buying one at that time. I had inherited some money, and the opportunity came up, and even Dh said it was a steal at the price I paid.   I have not really used it much yet, as I have not had much time to get to grips with it, but I do find hooping much easier on it. I managed to pick up quite a few  extra hoops on Ebay, and also got a cap frame and cylinder frame quite cheaply.  Have you managed to find suppliers for blanks yet?

Vintage Machines / Re: Machine Rescued

It does look as though it has hardly been used, but also looks like it has been looked after.  Why someone would just dump a machine I do not know.

Today, whilst at the recycling centre I spotted a sewing machine. I was horrified that a machine would just be dumped, and just had to liberate it. All we saw was a huge plastic case, so did not have a clue what was inside. Well when I got home I opened the case to find this beauty. Fully working condition, not a bit of fluff in sight. Plugged it in and it runs beautifully. I have not threaded it up yet to see if it sees but I am confident that I will get it sewing.

Thanks for all the replies and info. I will go with laminate with a commercial guarantee. I don't know when it will get down now, as I have inherited a property, and need to do some decorating there as a priority

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: Sewing room flooring
« on: June 27, 2017, 22:54:32 PM »
My sewing room has carpet which has been down for yonks and although a hard floor would be practical for sweeping up all the bits of thread and snippets of fabric I'm not sure that it would work.

The spare bedroom, which with one bed pushed underneath the other one gives me the biggest area of floor space available in the house, has a laminate floor but just walking across it sounds downstairs.  I think moving a chair on casters would sound awful and lead to more than a few disgruntled words from Terry.

The ideal would be a downstairs sewing room with ceramic tiles on the floor.
I have a downstairs sewing room, but ceramic tiles would not work in it

I have carpet, which was in the room already, so was the cheap and easy option. I had been thinking of laminate, but your experience goes against that.
What is the actual floor? Is it concrete, or floorboards, or what? Although it's not fashionable, vinyl floor covering comes in many different guises and is very practical. Alternatively there are a lot of the amtico types, not all as expensive as the market leader.

I have floorboards, rather uneven ones as it is an old house. I have been looking around and it seems that I'm going for the amtico type flooring.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Sewing room flooring

I need new flooring in my sewing room. MY computer is in there as well, and I have 2 wheeled chairs, which have destroyed the laminate I have at present. I do not want carpet, and do not want laminate again. I am looking for suggestions for flooring that will work with wheeled chairs, and is easy to clean.

I have a large corner desk with cupboards/drawers attached at both ends, which makes a large corner unit around  2m x 2m. I have my Brother PR1000, Janome MC8900, Babylock Evolve, Janome Cover pro, and blind hemmer on it, and have Singer 201k Underneath at the moment. Apart from the PR1000, the machines get moved forwards or back as required. I did consider getting rid of the Cover pro, when I got the Evolve, but decided against it. I did however get rid of my Janome 500e when I got the PR1000. I had intended keeping it for a backup, but did not realise ho much space the PR1000 would actually take up, so it had to go.

I have manage to fix it myself, the side cover was slightly slack, and not connecting with the microswitch properly. I'm really pleased that I saved myself £129.
