Thanks- the silk/cotton looks good if it is suitable for a top.

@Acorn, in normal times, I could wear (in layers with other things) woollies eight months of the year. But here in Bristol UK it has been summer wear since end April. So my wardrobe needs lots of additions.
I have the fabrics, just need to get started.

After reading this in lockdown, I am going to start again with my non-woolly clothes.
But as recluse, I may have to invent an exciting life.

I have a terrible urge to buy cream washed silk- can anyone recommend a site?

My 1015 is almost identical to the 1008, and has been running for nearly 30 years.
It is a Rolls Royce machine,  but a cheaper Janome does the same thing.

Her basic machine might be okay with a few lessons?

Everyone, you need to value yourselves and your time more.
Come on @Manuela , tell us what you told the woman who wanted you to make her a dress...

I have wide shoulders, narrow hips, not much definition in between. Nothing springs to mind.

Sounds like we all have too many unused patterns. How about folks describing the style and size they want, and peeps like me posting them out?
I would do it free in the UK.

What lies beneath... / Re: Looking for a pattern

There is a quite old Threads article explaining how to make a petticoat (slip) by starting with a bra.

Use silky fabric and  cut (on the bias) a four gore A line skirt (centred on front and back).

Attach this under the bra.

On the bias makes it drape nicely.

I would be too busy for now....

I made up the camber dress, and the hip was huge. Just do a flat measurement first.

They are making bigger sizes now- check their website for made up examples.

Check PR for how folk have made them up in different fabrics.

The science on facemasks is that they only stop you from spreading germs.
