A local charity shop used to take all my scraps for pulping but that stopped a couple of years ago. I compost the little bits, only hoarding pieces at least a handspan wide. I still have too many of them  :scream: @SewRuthieSews posted some great ideas on here, I like the cards & may try making 'fabric' for a bag.

Congratulations @fajita and family :VV:

I've just ordered our day 2 tests. My heart sank when I started at 1297 in the queue, but the countdown was rapid & the purchase simple. Plants are watered & the fridge emptied. DD 1 and family are already on their way, thanks to EasyJet changing their flights they have a hotel near Luton tonight for a morning flight. They booked to fly from Gatwick but their outbound was changed to Luton & the return now leaves Barcelona on Sunday instead of Saturday so they have a day to explore there. They're still returning to Gatwick
DD2's husband is now home from London & we'll meet up at Birmingham airport tomorrow morning.

Ouch @Starryfish. Take it easy & 🤞 it's benign. Good that you've caught it early.

Today I feel like I've been very busy but haven't achieved anything. This morning was fighting our way through the documents for flying to Spain for half term. Then occupying GS for an hour while DD sorted out theirs. Good news this eve that DD'S stepdaughter had a negative PCR for entry to Spain: at 17, she's had her one jab but her NHS Covid pass shows this as 1of2 so we didn't want to risk Spain turning her away. Really looking forward to getting away but given the hassle & uncertainty we won't be going abroad again soon.

Thanks @Ohsewsimple. Next time I use the big hoop I'll try them both - if I remember! Sometimes I get a bit of bounce in the centre of the big hoop, maybe it'll help avoid that. I've dealt with it by winding the bobbin with embroidery thread (rather than bobbinfill) so that any bobbin thread that gets pulled to the top Is invisible.

I've had my machine (Pfaff Creative 3) for ages. I've just (re) discovered this pack which came with the embroidery module. There are clips, which I think I've finally worked out fit on the hoop like this:  though I'm not sure why I'd need them? And this slightly sticky, fluffy stuff which looks a bit like thick stabiliser but which is cut to fit over the large hoop.   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]  Does anyone have any idea what it's for? I wondered whether it was to cushion the edges of delicate fabric when hooping?

Grey and drizzly here too. I've nearly finished the advent calendar, my sewing seems to be getting slower and s l o w e r.

@Sara-S we have lane assist, traffic jam assist, smart parking sensors etc. DH delights in driving 'hands off' which the car will do for 2 mins before an alarm sounds & a warning message comes up. A friend says if you can hold your nerve long enough with hands off, the car will brake to a stop. That would be quite worrying in the third lane. We call the heated seats the Hot Bot option.

Very exciting @ScubaGirl . Enjoy it! Do you get half term out there? In the UK it's next week.

Good morning all, good to hear from @Silver Rose that you're making progress. I have a sore arm still. DH says he doesn't feel quite right but his arms aren't very sore, just a bit tender. He's still working solar water plumbing so is obviously not too bad. I'm finishing the advent calendar with a bit of hand embroidery, sequins etc to help hold the wadding to the front. Then I just need to embroider the child's name on the backing. Must remember to stitch hanging loops on before putting them together.

Now I have a sore arm. I've finished my bomber jacket at last. DD brought GS round as he was bored and she has a nasty cold & feeling grotty. We posted him out the landing window to 'help' Grandy with his solar water heater project. (It's a flat roof). That kept them amused for half an hour then we played cars. His scabs from the tumble at the BMX track are healed now, his face is back to normal thank goodness.

@Silver Rose good to hear you're out the other side. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

We were early for our jabs. As expected, I wasn't allowed the Covid one: there must be 182 days since the last. Picked up winter pansies in the market on the way home, but I won't plant them until after half term as the summer plants are still going strong. Will need to pot them on this week though.
