Today... One thread per day / Re: Friday 3rd December
« on: Yesterday at 17:54:49 »
Evening all the promised rain arrived and it’s now wet cold and dark

I got a bit sidetracked this morning and made a tree skirt  :D then after lunch we went to collect a tree, went to the area where the size we wanted were and the first one in line was perfect so we didn’t look at any others   :thumb: then I went into their wee shop and bought a tree decoration in memory of mum in law, I knew what I wanted and found it  :thumb:

Then I came home and made three Christmas masks, two for me and one for DH because I can’t find the ones I put away in a place I would remember last year

Had an email from work asking could I work next weekend (already working extra this weekend) as the person they spent two days training up last week decided they didn’t want to do it after all I did tell them they should let him train with me and my assistant but they put him with two horrible people so serves them right! I reiterated that I AM LEAVING on the 14th if they can’t get the staff it’s their problem

Got a man coming later to drop off a bag of clothes that he wants me to see if they are salvageable (repairs needed) I like doing that and I’ve done lots of stuff for him and his wife

Dinner is cooking and I’m not going to do anything else today other than a bit of crocheting which is almost finished and will be tonight in front of the tele

Enjoy the rest of your evening whatever you have planned and stay safe and well

Morning everyone blue sky at the moment and cold brrr, rain on its way though

I'm going to put up (just to see if I like them  :ninja: ) some more of my handmade Christmas decorations, DH thinks I'll take them down later and put up properly nearer Christmas, ha!

We're going to choose a tree this afternoon, probably put it up on the weekend although I'm working so I might be too tired or not in the mood

Have good days all whatever you get up to and stay safe and well  :grouphug:

I’ve cut out all the pieces for the chair cover including 12mtrs of bias for the piping   :faints: I am happy to say that there was enough fabric so that I could get the pattern looking ‘right’ all over means a lot of waste really but she said I could keep the leftovers and I’ll probably find something to do with them  :D

Glad you’ve got a booster booked  it’s a postcode lottery some places like ours in the back of beyond have been brilliant, initial jab x 2, boosters and flu all done at the GP surgery for all those on their books which covers our village and about five surrounding ones  :thumb:

I’ve started putting up some Christmas decorations  only a few, to see if I like them as much as I thought I would  :ninja:

Happy birthday Mr @Acorn  :birthday:

I've just had my letter from work acknowledging my resignation and thanking me blah blah blah, most importantly of all confirming my leaving date as 14th December  what I will do next is anyone's guess

@WildAtlanticWay your DH sounds like my mum, her house was a santa's grotto by the time she'd finished although the kids used to love it  0_0

Morning everyone, wet, grey, cold, miserable is how I would describe our weather today  :( but as I don't need to go any further than my sewing room, that's ok

DH has actually gone to work this morning, he's in his proper office not the spare bedroomhome office, I think he said he'll be back at lunchtime though because he has a meeting this afternoon and the internet is so rubbish at work that if he did it there, no one else would be able to use it  still I'll take a morning home alone  :thumb:

@Flobear a chair will feature in my world today too, I have a bedroom chair to make a loose cover for. The lady who owns it wanted it reupholstered which I can do, but the fabric she has supplied won't last five minutes it's not upholstery fabric, and the shop where she bought it should be ashamed of themselves because they told her it was  >< anyhoo I persuaded her that it will be ok for a loose cover, and if in the future she wanted it recovered then I would do it with the correct fabric, she's ok with that. If there is enough fabric left over she wants a bed throw made as well, so the first job is measuring the fabric, she said the man in the shop said there was 'about 18 or 19 meters on the roll'  >:) and it has quite a long pattern repeat (I don't like the fabric personally but she does)which might mean lots of fussy cutting for the chair, so today I might not get any actual sewing done, but maybe the measuring and cutting. I need to wait for some piping cord to arrive anyway.

Well, best get on with it then......

Morning everyone brighter today and with it a chilly breeze, I need to pop out to the shops and as 'black' wind on the forecast from lunchtime I'd better do it this morning!

Not sure what else is going to happen today yet, my mind is full of things I could/should/want to do I just need to get them in some kind of order and make a start......Then again there's always tomorrow

Weird things going on with the photos but here’s the last one   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Made two stockings this afternoon to hang one each side of the fireplace I’ve decided also to make some small stocking bunting to hang between them but that’s for another day

For some reason the photos have come up opposite to the description????

Cut out outers and liners sewed together and placed lining inside with seams together so no seams inside   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]
Next cut out cuff long enough to fold in half and attached to the inside catching all seams and overlocked it    [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I’d also inserted a ribbon to hang it between the stocking and the cuff
Folded the cuff down and gave it a press   [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Then made another one

Does anyone want these? I think they were free with magazines or something
I won’t use them so happy to give away no need for postage payment they’re light enough for a fist class stamp think I can stretch to that  :D

Jessie I did something similar when my great niece was due it was a carry cot size and although that was 10 years ago the idea came to me again the problem is I don’t know anyone with a little one at the moment so a bigger useful one was in order  0_0
