Today... One thread per day / Re: Wednesday 27th October
« on: Yesterday at 09:54:37 »
Good Morning All!  Grey and windy out there, but not cold, and no rain - up to now, although it is threatening.

Determined not to repeat yesterday, when I did nothing, I started the day by walking the doggies.  For two littleuns, they have a terrific pull.   :woof: :woof:

I had a really good sleep last night - first for days, and hopefully, I'll get a bit more done.  I didn't even knit.  I watched a disappointing French film, although truth be told, I was only half watching.  Did a little ironing, pinned some hems up, and made cheese on toast for 'dinner'...

Determined to mend my ways, I have plans for today, although whether they pan out, is something else...

Now to get out of dog walking gear, and into Worzel Gummidge mode, ready to face the day!

If you are having hard times

Today... One thread per day / Re: Tuesday 26th October ( I think)
« on: October 26, 2021, 10:23:22 AM »
Late start this morning for various reasons.  I had the most awful sleep, and last time I checked, it was 4am, so I've had just a couple of hours sleep. Feeling pretty disgruntled...

A very grey, damp day outside, but doesn't seem too cold, the leaves are starting to turn, and when the sun peeks  through, they are that magnificent Autumn colour.

Costco tonight - unfortunately, they don't stock much in the way of sewing/knitting supplies...  OH would like to eat out, I'm not so keen.

My pyjama top toile is finished, but it needs a few alterations.  Not sure whether to carry on with that, or move on to the next toile...

Maybe I'll just go and do a little knitting.

Kind thoughts to all with troubles and worries

Hi, I'm new... / Re: new member reaching out
« on: October 26, 2021, 10:08:39 AM »
Hello and welcome @bodger !

I have both of these machines, I just love how quietly they run.  You may want to add a 201k to that list as it is a great workhorse.  Personally, I prefer a treadle to a handcrank, but I think that's a matter of taste.

Lots of like minded people on here to give help and advice!

Patterns Discussion / Re: PyjamaTops
« on: October 25, 2021, 15:17:09 PM »
I've just finished the toile for the first pyjama top, and I'm quite pleased, although there are some adjustments to make.

Firstly, the length.  Far too long, but easily sorted.  The weight of the toile also pulls it  down, and the fabric I'll be using is nowhere near as heavy.

Secondly the neckline.  Far too high, and the binding looks really rough on the toile, but not too bothered as I'll be cutting it off.

Then there's the sleeves.  I  like the length, but I'll adjust to make a more 'dropped' sleeve.

On the whole though, I'm happy, and hopefully the proper top will be done by the end of the week.

Now on to the toile for the second top...

A Good Yarn / Re: SEPTEMBER/ OCTOBER SOCK KNIT ALONG
« on: October 25, 2021, 10:05:22 AM »
I picked up my knitting yesterday!!  I have to say though, it was slow and painful, due to some over-enthusiastic pruning the other week.  The middle finger on my right hand only bends half way, and is very painful.

However, I'm told that knitting is good physio so I'll carry on...

Not many rows to go for the pair!

Today... One thread per day / Re: Monday 25th October
« on: October 25, 2021, 09:53:40 AM »
Well, it was too good to last!  After several excellent sleeps, the last two nights have been awful.  Last night I was up and down all night...

Weather is still very damp and grey, but no rain at present.  Fingers crossed as I have two more lots of washing to peg out.

I was feeling very sorry for the birdies, (who I have not been allowed to feed because of the rats), and OH moved the feeder closer to the house, where I cam see what is going on, and the more unsavoury visitors are less inclined to venture.

I tried some knitting yesterday, but my right hand fingers are still very stiff and painful after my enthusiastic pruning the other week.  Not far to go on my socks though.

I did manage to cut out a toile for the first of my pyjama tops.  Almost immediately, I thought of a batter way to do it...

Well, bed's made bathroom cleaned, slap on, and I'm ready to tackle the first load of ironing.  I have my doggie friends for company this week, and just waiting for a new doggie bed to arrive as their old one came out of the garage, looking a bit worse for wear.

Finger crossed I buck up!

Hopes for a better day for those of you with worries and illness

Technical Help / Re: Vogue V1610 -SB Kimono
« on: October 23, 2021, 11:50:10 AM »
Absolutely spot on @Ohsewsimple !  Me to a tee!

Lilya and DD will look far more elegant... Hmmm not too sure about that - Lilya  doesn't sit still for long - unless she has a head in a book - very unlikely with sun, and a pool to hand...

Jealous Moi!  You bet!  Apart from all the hoops they have had to jump through...

Just reminded me.  This time of the year I get my box of Christmas fabric (and other colourful fabric) to make Christmas stockings.  Just made of strips, and odds and ends of embellishment.

Thank you both for the kind words.

Kimonos were delivered last night - the earliest that we could due to Covid Regs, and both DD and Lilya were delighted, so I expect pics of her swanking round the pool...

I intend to make a few more of these, one for me and a couple for eldest DD and older GD.  Should be a breeze now that I have two under my belt!

Good Morning People!!  Cloudy out today, but a glimmer of sunshine trying to worm it's way through.

Just waiting for OH to get breakfast on the table - you guessed - his signature dish, scambled eggs...  We eat so late on a Saturday though, that I don't have to do lunch as well as dinner.

Two Kimonos were well received yesterday, and much excitement at DD's house, about the forthcoming holiday.  They have a taxi arriving at one o'clock to take them to the airport, but first Daddy has to get back from Durham with his passport.  He left the house at stoopid o'clock this morning, and everything crossed, he will be back in time for the taxi...  B****y Passport Office...  Between them and the Covid testing regulations, they will need that holiday when they get there!

Plans for today are, a trip into town to get OH's glassses re-set, buy some new Flanelette sheets - silly me only got one pair the other week... maybe if I'm a very good girl, I may get to swing by the Fabric shop - just to stroke the fabric... ;)

This afternoon, I may make a Pyjama top...

Thinking of all of you with Colds, and other ailments

You know those jobs that you leave to the last minute because they'll only take five minutes?  Well, this proved to be one of those...

Well, four hours later it's now finished, and ready to go.

Phheewww!  :faints:
