Today... One thread per day / Re: Friday 3rd December
« on: Yesterday at 14:37:10 »
Hi all. Good news- I saw my surgeon yesterday. The most recent mammogram showed no problems.  Also, the hospital boutique was able to fit me for the pad I need for the left side.

So today I can relax a bit. After a few quick errands, I have time to sew! I am starting on a baby quilt , using a Mickey & Minnie Mouse panel.

Today... One thread per day / Re: Wednesday 1st December🎄

Good morning all!
@Acorn enjoy your retirement! I have been retied for 7 years and I love it.  BTW, what are you retired from?  (I retired from teaching after 32 years.)

Later this morning, I am off to the lingerie shop for a fitting. Hoping they can help me find the corrective items I need. While I am not having a meltdown over this, I am feeling a bit down about it.

Later in the day, or (at the latest) tomorrow, I will be able to start on a baby quilt with a Mickey & Minnie Mouse panel.

@Bodgeitandscarper those are stunning!  I never thought about embroidery on leather. Was it hard to do? Do you need a special type of needle?

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: The Truth will out

It looks lovely and quite cuddly. We are, of course all our own harshest critics.  That is not to say the work is perfect, but instead, to try & learn to improve upon what you weren't happy with.

If you aren't sure how to make it better, ask. Folks here (who are far more expert than I) will help you.

I made a bunch of these to send to various friends & relatives.  They’re fun to do, & flat enough to mail inside a card.

Embroidery machines are fun too, but each has it own skill set & challenges.  That’s why I love both.

I got in the mood to do some free-motion. So I made a Valentines Day wall hanging. Out of season, I know, but it will keep.

What needle do you use for embroidering cards?

@BrendaP I like your tool bag!  Nice choice of fabric and as you say, making your own allows you to customize.

I stand corrected. But why does it matter?

Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Tube quilting

This is a way of cutting a bunch of half-square triangles from the same fabrics I got a link to this video from my quilt guild;
https://www.nationalquilterscircle.com/video/tube-quilting-jelly-rolls-015612/

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks interesting. Anyone here ever tried it? Opinions?

Very nicely done!  I like to do some embroidered cards too.  There are designs made especially for that. But if you can’t find one you like, redwork designs will double very well, as card designs.
