@PollyWally they look interesting funny the one hand needlework thing I don’t like doing is cross stitch, I like the finished item but not the process.
I have seen some beautiful cross stitch pictures and I have friends who assure me that they find it so relaxing.
Not me, trying to keep count and shade change to follow the pattern is anything but relaxing.

Technically, hand embroidery is pulling stuff through stuff with a needle

Thank you all.
It's been on the go for so long I am surprised the cotton hasn't started to rot  :embarrassed:

Sorry I messed up the first one and sent two identical photos
Think I got it right now

First attempt to post vanished  :headbang:

If I manage to attach the photos and send post

Photos should show image that came with pattern and two my two border options (I don't have enough of either to do all four the same colour)

Not sure if I am overthinking this but I don't want to take the easy way out and regret it or do the more complicated one and get it wrong.

Always supposing I can get the photos loaded and identified. Hopefully the pic that came with the pattern and the two border options.

I saw this & I thought you may be interested! / Re: Embroidery blog

Looks pretty simple to me (says she  )

Some gentle curved piecing ... oversize the cut pieces so you can trim down

The main problem I can see is the domed top ... How would you hang that?
If you hang across the widest point of the top (before the curves part starts)  the domed top would flop down

Im sure its been done before tho so a lil googling could help.

Firm vilene half-circle? Or half-circle band under the binding?

Oh, that's like the unpick I bought at a show years ago. Much better than the traditional unpicks.

Love the wall hanging.
Did you make it? If so more information please.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Mind blowing fabric - has to be Japanese

I wondered how they use the fabrics. Each of the weavers we saw only worked with one type - gold or lapis lazuli or mother of pearl, but the obis were made of more than one.

Sewing Spaces and Furniture / Re: To Horn cabinet or not
« on: February 12, 2022, 11:38:02 AM »
Many thanks for starting this thread @Celia and all those who contributed. It has got me thinking about things I had just taken for granted whenever I thought about changing my sewing room furniture.

I have had a Horn cabinet for years (and I mean years - 1990). I knew about the cabinets but it was really bought on impulse when I went into a Singer shop that was closing down. It was display stock, a 1065 original price £725 and I got it for £435.
Closed it looks most like the Calypso but it has cubbies on the inside of the swing out door and drawers on the righthand side.

I have never considered getting rid of it because, well it's a Horn, it looks as good as when I got it (they are very well made) and if/when I move I would be downsizing and it could go into a living room as a piece of furniture.

Now all of you have made me start to think properly about it.
If I downsize something like the Cub would hold my Bernina and take up less space closed. I have a Hide-Away (the Mark 1) which takes my overlocker and embellisher.
Another Hide-Away or a SewEzi would take my Bernina and take up less space than my Horn in my present room.

Looks fantastic, Bodge.
Plus you have probably warned most of us off being tempted to try it ourselves  :S

Hemline carries a very similar style of bag.

I like the look of it but not sure how useful the drop down ironing section would be. The review comments are helpful.

I remember it well. I thought she was quite amusing.
And I discovered that I was far more gullible than I thought I was.
