No problem! I only know because I've been thinking of replacing my 28 year old 730D 3 thread Brother overlocker (a forunner of the 1034D) for a while now so am familiar with the prices.

I'd be a bit wary of some of the prices on there. The Brother 1034D has never been as high as £358, it usually sells for around £189 so really it's only £10 off at £179, and it's ex display.

I used a coverstitch on a dress I made to wear to a wedding last year.
First off who is going to be scrutonising your hem (mine was a knee length dress, Style Arc Kellie)? I've also seen very expensive knit fabric dresses that had a coverstitched hem. I checked them out before I did mine.
Next if it's patterned try a few different colours or shades of thread to see which looks better. Use a narrow stitch as well.

I don't think it would work with a fabric with no stretch at all, I think they recommend bengaline which has a lot of stretch.
One thing I try with pull on pants by Style Arc is to make up the waistband and try it over your hips. That will tell if the fabric will work.
