Hi All,

I’m at it again- lovely pfaff 30 in South Hampton currently not a lot, collection only, apparently the postal service damaged the base.

My Pfaff 30 is a lovely machine very shiny and once set up they’re unfussy and smooth sitchers- straight stitch only they’re very quiet but mine has a heck of a decent punch and a lovely neat stitch.

Be warned it weighs a ton!

We get a fair few queries about cleaning up old, older, venerable and ancient sewing machines, treadles and cabinets...
So I thought I’d start a thread to collect everyone’s thoughts.

I’m looking for any hints or tips, strategies, links to blogs you find helpful or inspiring and your favourite tools and doodads or cleaning/polishing helpfuls. The goal is to give any aspiring sewing machine fancier a good place to start and give us all somewhere to refer queries to and exchange ideas.

I’ll go away and organise my thoughts....

The Show Must Go On / Fixed :) DD belly dance costume

We found this in a charity shop, and I’ve been fixing it semi regularly ever since and my DD is finally big enough to wear it and there’s a belly dance event this weekend. My daughter isn’t a regular belly dancer but she loves doing it with mum and especially loves this costume!

In terms of fixing there was a couple of iffy seams, the hook and eyes all needed restitching, there were a lot of loose threads... and a shed load of loose beads and sequins.

But it’s now ready! Phew!

Oh my days! I’m pretty close to ‘Squeeing!’ The Pink Atomic arrived and it is so much better than I had hoped. It’s largely immaculate it’s solidly built and the box is huge! And completely outrageous!

Hi All,

Here’s the challenge... I won a prepaid credit card for 30USD. Only living in the UK, USDs are not day to day useful.

Any ideas of what I should spend it on?

I thought about maybe Sew Classic, or craftsy? But I thought you guys might have some better ideas. My idea to use it on a Clam Shell (Jetsons) buttonholer also failed.

It’s a nice problem to have

I’ve heard a bit about changing the bobbin case on the 319/320 as a way to enable the machine to take 15x1 needles. Has anyone else tried this? Was it successful?

The Show Must Go On / How did they do this? (skirt gather)

Hi All,
I was taking a look at (shh) Pinterest, and the Mrs sneaks a peak over my shoulder and was cooing over this...

I started a bit of a dissection looks like an RTW underskirt (and the colours arent a good match in my opinion) - but the over skirt rear overlapping tail arrangement is quite something. I thought it was probably a folded/pleated semi circle, but wanted to ask in case anyone had any better ideas or even a name for the technique?

Machine Accessories / Swiss Zigzagger 160990

I found a complete if rather dusty and dry Swiss zigzagger with 5 templates 160990 (no white shell because it the prior model) for a semi reasonable price.

I’m tempted to keep it... what do guys reckon? Anyone tried one? Are they good? Are they worth the exorbitant price?
