You can't beat a good heavy dry iron.  Unfortunately, they don't seem to make domestic models any more.  I dread the day my Morphy Richards' goes pop, although I have seen some on ebay.
Just checked.
Snap! Except mine is chrome finish. Box has the price on - £3 16s 2d

Hi Nevis, welcome to TSP.

Lots of lovely people and advice, encouragement, whatever you need.
We also have several enablers when required  ;)

Must find the box with my old dry iron.

It is all too easy to think that some new gadget will suddenly make your work better. Yes, sometimes someone can introduce you to a new product which is an improvement, but so often people produce beautiful work using older equipment - they just have more talent/have practiced more.

Maybe one day that basic fact will penetrate my thick skull.

Tech Know How / Re: @member name in reply

Can we have an active @member name in replies, for example '@Ravingdoll: what did Muv say?'  It's used in other fora I visit and I find it a handy shortcut where I don't want to quote, but am addressing a specific person.
I am sure that would be useful for those who understand it, but could it be optional please?

Vintage Machines / Re: Would it be really naughty of me...
« on: December 29, 2017, 12:22:53 PM »
I gave her the info - name of machine, date of manufacture and suggested she check it out. She hasn't. Said she can't be bothered. I'd be a mug to insist.
Not sure there is anything more you could have done, Catllar.
Definitely buy them.

That is a beautiful machine. I also love the 'Egyptian' decal ones.
However, if I was ever going to indulge it would be with a Featherweight (and I daren't think about starting).

How Much??!!

I hope you will be very happy together, Imi (why is she worrying about scant1/4" seams when she produces such beautiful work?)

How Much??!!

Tech Know How / Re: A place to store posts?

I try not to remember the posts I filed away in the old place (I think quite a few of them were from Morgan)

Well I suppose it depends on whether you have the same access to these things locally.

Just think of the fabric and all the bits and pieces you could buy for that!
Ok, I'm ducking behind the sofa now.  :|
But the fabric and the bits and pieces you buy at the show are the reason you need to save up that much money.
