Courses & Classes / Craftsy app
« on: May 10, 2021, 17:01:09 PM »
Has anyone used the Craftsy app recently? Mine kept stopping so I uninstalled it and now I can't seem to find a Craftsy app to download.

Is it just me or can you no longer use an app for Craftsy?

Patterns Discussion / Free Fibremood PDF Pattern 8-9 May only
« on: May 08, 2021, 14:53:19 PM »
Just seen on Instagram that you can get a free fibremood PDF pattern from their webshop with the code SEWISTAMOM

Today and tomorrow only though and it can be for any pattern.

I haven't tried to use it yet so can't say how it works.

I have seen a dress that I'd really like to copy but can't seem to find a pattern. The dress is by Wyse London and I've seen it worn by Sophie Raworth on the BBC news

This is another plain view of the same style  -2nd picture brown dress

This from M & S is similar apart from the neckline   - 3rd picture green dress. I have tried it for style but don't like the shade of green.

The skirt is similar to Simplicity 8875 which I have and have seen made up.

Can anyone help please?

In the wardrobe / Skirt Dilemma - Which One Do I Make?
« on: November 25, 2020, 15:23:13 PM »
I'm planning on making a Style Arc Canterbury skirt with some animal print viscose twill but am unsure so wonder what anyone's thoughts would be.

Main worry is altering the length as I am only 5'1". I thought of removing seam allowance on skirt top and the main piece but I think I need 1-2" off the length so do I just take it from the hem or slit the skirt piece somewhere in the middle?

Also the side zip goes up through waistband which I've not done before, but as I'm low waisted would really prefer to put waistband on last so should I put zip in to finish at waist and put a hook and eye on the overlapping waist band?

My other thought was to make the Fibremood Hettie with only one tier? I've made a toile of both skirt tops for size as I've not made a skirt in at least a decade!

My last thought was is the 'droopy hem' style a bit out of date now? I was thinking of eliminating the 'droop' from the back.

Just seen a post on Instagram that Mark and Su the owners of Patternsy pattern printing are going to retire this year.

They haven't decided if it will be when paper runs out or if it will be the end of the year, but will update at various intervals.

I've used them and found it a good service so if you've a big pattern you want doing maybe time to do it!

Just seen an Instagram post from SA announcing 20% off top PDF and hard copy from with code TOP20.

Runs from 21-25th May.

Maybe we can all buy that Jules top pattern that was mentioned the other day?  ;)

Patterns Discussion / Style Arc Patterns Exchange Rate
« on: March 18, 2020, 12:52:59 PM »
No special offer but if you want to buy any patterns, the exchange rate for the AUD is in our favour right now. It's currently at $1.93 to £. This is the tourist rate, not the business rate which is even better for us,  but is the one that is used for conversions.

As a guide around Black Friday it was $1.84ish which was high to what it had been in previous months.

Will post if it gets any better!

Style Arc has 25% off all dresses either PDF or Hard Copy patterns this weekend ending Monday 27th Jan. https://www.stylearc.com/shop-category/sewing-patterns/dress-patterns/?utm_campaign=website&utm_source=SendGrid&utm_medium=email

Use code DRESSPATTERNS25OFF and don't forget your freebie!

Had a scroll down just in case, and noticed this one.

I don't recall seeing it but it looks like it would be nice to have for sitting in the garden if we get some sunshine (the dress version that is!).

Just a reminder that Style Arc have 30% off all PDF patterns from their site and also on ETSY with code BOXINGDAY30PDF. www.stylearc.com

Style Arc offer finishes 01 Jan 2020 according to a post on their Facebook page.

Also Patternsy printing have 20% discount on their AO printing until 12 pm 31 Dec. Only £2 per sheet of AO in colour or Black and white, www.patternsy.com

15
20% of Style Arc gift vouchers which are available from their website from now until Christmas Eve. https://www.stylearc.com/shop/ don't forget to add code giftvoucher20 at checkout.

So if you like their patterns could be a good buy to save for future. The exchange rate for UK is more favourable just now AUD 1.88 to the UK£ as I write + 20% off makes it even better. Wait until they have an offer on patterns and spend gift voucher which will probably give you a double discount  >:)

I was wondering if I should gift myself??  ;)

I'll update the exchange rate as we get nearer.

Rate slightly lower 17th 1.84 to £1
