Patchwork & Quilting ... Welcome to the Darkside / Re: Winding your Binding
« Last post by Sara-S on Yesterday at 21:28:38 »
I had made some very wide binding that I had wound around that electrical cord keeper.  Turns out that I made several yards (meters/metres) more than I needed.  So I unfolded it & pressed it flat.  I had enough to make a border for all 4 sides of one Morning star block & 2 sides of another one.

I learned to sew on an older model of this, and still use it in my alteration shop.  Great machine!

Another failed attempt at posting a photo!
There is a border of sashing around the top now.
I think I will do 1 or 2 rows of HST's at the top and bottom using the 5 ins fabric and if enough bits a single row of small squares (HST) along the sides.
I can only try and hope I don't have to unpick :S

There are triangles in it!

I would just add another row of blocks - alternating the squares and triangle blocks.

I'd stick with squares, rectangles or strips as there aren't any triangles in it already. A border top and bottom of 5" squares perhaps?
How big are the existing blocks?

They're great, @Missie and I do like the no frills, or rather no unasked for and often rather twee labels or envelopes approach.

Thanks Helen, yes it is Quest that this Australian Repair Shop is being shown.  (Sorry I do get muddled up between the two channels)
