Vintage Machines / Re: Bernina 700 with non-functioning bobbin winder
« on: March 28, 2020, 16:39:24 PM »
I have a 707 where the bobbin winder is on the top of the machine. When I had it serviced last year, Bambers replaced the bobbin winder as the rubber was perishing resulting in poor contact. Are you able open up your machine and see what the state of the bobbin winder looks like?

Patterns Discussion / Re: Wanted - Pattern for Tabard-style Apron

Janet Clare and Jenni Smith have apron patterns that might be the style you are looking for:

There are also some free instructions for similar style aprons, but I don't know what the sizing is like:

I don't know if a trip to Blackburn is doable for you, but if so, Hobkirks currently have a second-hand Atelier 5 listed on their Facebook page at £599 but it is for collection only.

Vintage Machines / Re: Bernina 730 needles
« on: February 29, 2020, 16:38:02 PM »
I’ve a vintage Bernina 707 machine and it takes “standard” system 705 needles which come in a variety of sizes and types for different sorts of fabric.

There’s a manual for your machine available and the Bernina website should you need it.
https://www.bernina.com/en-GB/SupportData/Out-of-Print/BERNINA_730_731_732_manual

Edit: I can recommend Jaycotts for sewing supplies. Their postage is reasonable for small orders and they have a good range of Schmetz needles.

Edit (again): Sorry, I’ve just seen you are in Switzerland so Jaycotts might not be the best option for you.

I'll have to try to press without steam in future, just to get it finished.

Oh no, that's not good. You'll also have to remember not to sit next to a radiator in it if it gets wet  :(

I’m having a clear out and have several patterns that I am unlikely to use.
These patterns are uncut, but the envelopes may be a little tatty.
£2 each plus £1.50 P&P* (payment by PayPal friends & family, please).
*These patterns fall into the next postage bracket due to their weight.

EDIT: I’ve checked the postage details and 2 patterns can be sent for £1.50.
