Sewalongs and Competitions / Re: THINK PINK ... 1/7 - 31/7
« on: July 03, 2020, 14:10:01 PM »
I can always think of way more things to make than actual time (and ability) to execute them.
I do find the fabric speaks to me quite loudly sometimes.
I have fabric for
tee shirts/cardigan, a linen shirt, PJ trousers, a dressy occasion outfit (that ones not happening obviously), casual trousers.

I lack the skill for quilting, but do make small non clothing items like drawstring bags, cushion covers, fabric masks, folding shopping bags, pillow cases, peg bags etc etc

I do find nightwear can be a great way to use colours and prints I don't want to wear out e.g. panda print, semi sheer shirting etc.

If I can find the fabric then I want to make myself some pink PJ trousers - however the sewing room is very untidy and I can't currently locate the fabric!
(I don't want to waste good sewing time tidying up, but maybe I need to!)

Fun with Fabric / Rainbow cushions
« on: June 29, 2020, 10:29:44 AM »
BBC click has one presenter who sits on a sofa with rainbow cushions.
Every time we watch it I love the cushions.

I am thinking of making a set of my own
-  red faux fur
- orange wool with cutout details
- yellow fleece with sunflower applique
- green textured
- blue like the sea and sky
- indigo made from denim scraps (and hopefully a pocket)
- violet - no thoughts as yet

I didn't think I had much pink, but I pulled these out of my cupboard.

Here are some various shades of pink, I'll do some photos of things from my stash I count as pink and see if it sparks ideas with others.

The more people join in the better from my perspective.

I'm in too, I have few pink things in the stash, though more likely to go for a tee shirt or trousers than the faux silk special occasion outfit!

In the wardrobe / Hot weather clothing and bedding
« on: June 22, 2020, 15:59:00 PM »
Later this week is due to be quite hot, and since I already run a bit hot in the torso since I'm just into the menopause I am dreading it a bit, especially night time.

I am open to suggestions!

I like very thin cotton PJs with an adjustable waist on the trousers and sleeveless top.
Cotton bedding on the bed, and no duvet just the duvet cover.
Shut the curtains in the daytime and open the windows in the evening.

Loose viscose shirts and elasticated waist culottes in the daytime.
Drink water, use fan (and I have a mini swamp cooler).

Then by the next week its normally cooled down again and I am really relieved.

I am smiling a giant smile, thank you @Deafoldbat

Technical Help / Sewing a Sports Bra/Casual Bra
« on: June 21, 2020, 11:50:40 AM »
I've not really sewn activewear, but would like to try making simple cropped top style sports bras.
I have standard sewing machine with a variety of stitches, also an overlocker and a separate coverhem machine.

I do have some suitable fabric, elastic etc but not any patterns that I can think of.

Any suggestions on where to start?

As a non quilter I would absolutely LOVE to have a quilt. (I do have a wall quilt my aunt made me which I love).
Off to look!

I have been putting off changing the needles in mine, but am convinced the left one does need changing.

Possibly long shorts, possibly leggings and tunic for online Pilates. Probably nothing as I don't find sporty stuff very inspiring.

Fun with Fabric / Re: Fabric for summer trousers
« on: June 02, 2020, 22:46:06 PM »
I made and wore my floral fabric trousers.
Loved them, though discovered part way through the day I was wearing them with a painting t shirt that had got in the wrong drawer. Which slightly spoilt the look.
(I destroy clothes when doing painting, gluing, gardening etc, so I have a special place for a few bobbly, painty things which I try to remember to wear next time).
So actually I now need a new navy jersey top to replaced the destroyed one.
