Almost there with the alteration. I removed the left front of the dress - lots of difficult unpicking as it has all been overlocked. Tbh, I should have removed both fronts, and moved one up and one down, but, hindsight came too late...
It wasn't as bad as I expected, I just had to keep checking that the fronts were matching after moving the pattern piece up by 4.5 cms, which is what is needed to make the match. It all went very well, although the seams had stretched out a bit, so I had to keep steaming them. The pocket isn't quite as good as the first one, but I did manage to save it.
The one thing that I've tried - which I wasn't intending to, was adding an piece to the hem. I was intending to go for a hi-low hem, but then I had the idea to add a piece of fabric to the shorter hem... I had no matching fabric, so I made do with an almost match.
I will rely on TSP members to tell the truth. Should I have stuck with my original idea for a hi-low hem, or does this look OK? I was just loathe to lose the extra length.
Off to do finishing touches now - snipping threads, neatening the inside, and giving the whole dress a darn good steam.
